Ashfield Women's Missionary
Society September meeting was
held in the church basement. Mrs.
Wm. Ross opened the meeting with
a poem' followed by the singing of
hymn 433. Mrs: Warren VVylds
gave the devotional "Help, My
Unbelief" with reference to Mark
9: 14-23, followed by prayer.
Sixteen, ladies answered the roll,
call "interesting item from. Presby-
terian Record'Y; also 4 visitors were
present. Mrs. Henry MacKenzie
gave a history on the Presbyterian
Record which was started in 1876'
with the price being 25c per year.
Mrs. Doug Martyn presented the
offertory prayer. Business was
discussed with' Mrs. Jim West in
charge. Thank-you notes were
received from Mrs. Mae MacGreg-
or and Mrs. Beryl. MacDonald.
Mrs. Henry MacKenzie reported
on a board meeting she had
attended and an' invitation was
extended to Wingham, 'October 22
at 8 p.m. to attend a service, theme
being "Marching On'.'. Invitation
was received from Trinity Church
to attend their thankoffering meet-
ing to be held Sundaii October 5 at
8 p.m. '
Mrs: Donald Simpson introduced
the guest speaker, Mrs. Andrew
Gaunt, who showed Slides on her
trip to the Holy Land. Everyone
enjoyed the slides and comments
given. by Mrs. Gaunt. Mrs. Jack
MacKenzie favoured with a solo "I
Walked Today Where Jesus .Walk-
ed". Mrs. Simpson thanked Mrs:
Gaunt and presented her with a
token of appreciation. Mrs. Ross
closed the meeting with a reading
and hymn 582 was sung. Mrs.
Ross read a blessing, grace was
sung and a social time followed.
Nifty Needlers
The third Meeting' of the
Kairshea Nifty Needlers was held
at the home of Mrs. C. Ritchie On
Wednesday, September Flat 7.00
o'clOck p.m.
The meeting began with the
motto and was followed by Bonnie.
Clark reading the minutes of the
last meeting.
Roll call was "What is the colour
harmony of your Learning Stitches
article". The roll Call was answer-
ed by six girls.
We all showed each other what
the design was ftr. our "Learning
Stitches" article. Mrs. Ritchie told
us about design. Sandra told us the
uses of the back stitch. The next
meeting will be held at ,the home of
Sandra Keith on Wednesday,
September 24 at 7.30 p.m.
Kairshea No...,
The fourth meeting. of the
Kairshea Number 2 4-H group was
held with all members present.
They learned the couching stitch.
The roll call was "show design for
free choice article". They talked
about their design and free' choice
article.
Touch of Stitchery
The' first meeting of Reid's
Corners ,4-11 Club, "A'Touch of
Stitchery" was held at Mrs. Judy
Snobelen's. on September 15.
Seven members were present and
the assistant leader Mrs. Sharon
Courtney. We discussed what, we
would make to complete this
project. Colour co-ordination and
creativity were stressed. After the
work period, Mrs. Snobelen served
Us snacks.
Snappy
Stitchers
Clover Valley 7 Snappy Stitchers
held their third meeting on
September 18, at 7.15 p.m. at the
home of Joyce Osborne. Wendy
Hamilton opened the meeting with
the 4-H pledge. All members
answered the roll call. Annette
Elphick Mad the minutes which
were- correct as read. The • next
meeting will be held on'September
27 at 7.15 at the home of Donna
Elphick.
Mrs. Hamilton /discussed the
Uses of the Back Stitch.. Mrs.
Elphick discussed How to Create a
Design , and haw 'to enlarge a
design. Both leaders demonstrated
the chain stitch. In group work we
enlarged 'a design and' did the
twisted chain stitch. We closed
the meeting with the 4-H motto -
"Learn to do' by doing".
Kathy O'Keefe Is
4-H President
The first meeting of Kingsbridge
4-H Club took place at the home of
Mrs. Evers on September the 16th,
at 7.00. The meeting was opened
with the 4-H pledge.
Election of officers took place.
They are , as follows: president,
Kathy O',Keefe; vice president,
Donna Drennan; secretary, Mary
Luanne Clare; treasurer, Janet
MacDonald; press reporter, Johan-
na van Diepen. 'Mrs. Evers
demonstrated how to make the
bread, knead and how to shape the
dough, then freeze the dough till
the next Meeting. ' The meeting
closed with the 4-H Motto.
