daughter of Dr. and Mrs., D. B.
Palmer of Clinton, was named Miss
Midwestern Ontario at the Luck-
now Fall Fair on Saturday. She was
chosen , from among 18 girls
representing area municipalities,
each a contest Winner in her home
community.

Died In 57th Year
Donald (Dan) Thomson of Luck-
now passed away in Wingham and
District Hospital on Friday, Sept-.
ember 19 in his 57th year.
The funeral service was held on
Sunday, September 21st at St.
Peter's Anglican Church, Lucknow.
Interment was in South Kinloss
Cemetery.
Couple Will Mark
60th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Alex (Sandy)
MacLeod of Lucknow will observe
their 60th, wedding anniversary on
Monday, September 29th.
Mr. MacLeod was hospitalized in
.Univcrsity Hospital, London until
last Saturday when he returned to his Lucknow home. He has been
suffering from a heart condition ' and underwent surgery to have a
pacemaker inserted. Sandy is in
his 90th year.

returned recently from Angleton,
Texas where she spent three weeks

Jan Simpson Kaye, wife of Gary
Kaye of Milford gay and daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert M.
Simpson of Kintail, graduated from
University of Western Ontario,
receiving a B.A. degree majoring
in Political Science.
She is now on the teaching staff
at Bracebridge:
as guest of Pam. Hill, her parents
and brothers, as part of the Lion's
International Youth Exchange Pro-
gram.
While in Texas, Barb visited the
State Capital of Austin, where she
was made an honourary citizen of
the State .of Texas. After touring
Austin, they travelled to San
Antonio and saw many historic
places including The Alamo. From
there . they travelled to Laredo,
Mexico, a small border city.
Back in Angleton, Barb was

New Operators
For BP Station
Bob and Lynn Peck of Gilford,
just north of Bradford, have
purchased Koyle'S .BP Station in
Lucknow and opened for Inisiness
this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Peck have a 9
month old daughter, Amanda Ann.
Lynn is .the daughter, of Mr. and
Mrs. Les Hazelden of Lucknow.
Hob is a class A mechanic with 10
years experience.
They have purchased the proper-
ty from BP Oil and will continue to
operate as a BP station. It was
known for many, many years as the
Supertest Garage before BP took
over. Supertest.
Bloss Koyle of Lucknow, who
had been operating the station up
to a few weeks ago, is now
employed at' tpe Bruce Generating
Station.
Murray, Gaunt of Wingham,
40-year-old Liberal incumbent in
the Ontario Legislature, won a
decisive, victory in the riding of
Huron-Bruce in last week's provin-
cial election on Thursday, Septem-
ber 18th.
Mr. Gaunt was re-elected by a
majority of 10,393 over Progressive
Conservative candidate Bill Wald-
en of Wingham. Mr. Gaunt polled
16,276, Mr. Walden 5883 and Dr.
Donald Milne of Kincardine, the
NDP candidate,' polled 2613.
It was a sweeping victory for
Murray . Gaunt who has served
HUron-Bruce-for the past 13 years.
He was first elected to the
Legislature in 1962 , in a by-electjon
when he had a majority of , about
700. year later, in the 1963
general election, his majority was
cut to about 25 in 'a real
"Squeaker". Over the years his
record of service has been 'a

Couple Mark
55th Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. George Lockhart of
Lucknow quietly observed their
55th wedding anniversary at their
Gough Street home in the village
On Monday, September 15th.
Mr. and Mrs. Lockhart lived on
the 4th concession of. Kinloss for
most of their married years until
retiring to Lucknow a few years
ago, at which time they purchased
the home of Mrs. Clara Shaddick
who moved to. Clinton:

Sunday's baptism at' Lucknow
Presbyterian Church was a hiStoric
occasion in the ,life of the
congregation.
'Lesley Anne Noble, infant
daughter of Lois and Glenn Noble,,
was baptized. Rev. Glenn Noble is
minister of .Lucknow and South
Kinloss Presbyterian Churches
and, delving 'into the records, it
doesn't appear that too many
children of ministers of the church
were baptized over the years.'
