Well, here it is Sunday morning
again and time to write the, news
for this column. It is nice outside,
right now. Yesterday it was
miserable - rain• and hail showers.
Everywhere it was wet and cold -
real nasty for fall fairs like Mildinay
and Ayton. All those connected

Wednesday, September 11. The
Honorable William Stewart, Prov-
incial Minister of Agriculture was
with fairs - whether directors,
exhibitors or, spectators, will be
hoping for nicer weather - for the
next few week ends. Coming in
corder are Lucknow, RiPley, Tiver-
ton and Teeswater in the next four
week ends. For the benefit of those
folks who have to work on
Saturdays, all the exhibit halls are
open to the public on Friday

evenings for a small admission.
Indeed many go on Friday evenings
who return on Saturday afternoon
to see the outside pfogram. It
takes many peoPle to "put on" a
fall fair and the remarkable thing it
is that these fairs founded in the
pioneer days of Bruce have carried
on each year like our churches and
schools for over a hundred years.
Publicity director of the Ripley-
Huron Reunion, Mrs. Elaine (Wal-
lace) Pollock, announces a public
meeting to .be held in the. new
Ripley-Huron Complex auditorium
at 8.15 p.m. on October 4 to show
reunion slides and hear the
financial report.
Next week is fall fair week here.
The, September meeting of the
directors was held in the new
complex on Monday evening of last
week. The indoor displays and
exhibits of the Ripley-Huron fall
fair will be diSplayed in the new
complex. The change over from
the auditorium of the Ripley
District High School and from
Huron Township hail will .mean
considerable work in preparing
display stands and tables and
in, locating the di fferent classes of
exhibits: President Morley Scott
has called the first work meeting
for next Monday evening. About 30
people were present at the meeting
last week - by far the largest crowd
at a monthly meeting in the past 30'
years. It seems that the "alive"
spirit of the recent Reunion is still
around.
Allan Irwin of Ripley would like
some of this "alive" spirit to keep
right on 'through the Ripley-Huron
fall fair to Monday evening,
September 29 for the meeting for
Minor Hockey here. On behalf 'of
the Ripley-Huron Recreation Com-
mittee, Allan has an ad in the
coming events. See it for details.
