Mr. and Mrs. Ruisel Swan and
family visited in Wiarton on
Sunday with his father, Earl Swan
of Gateway Haven, also his two
Uncles Sam Swan and Jack Swan.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Ritchie and
Carol visited his sister Sunday
afternoon, Mr, and Mrs. Jim Smith
of, Molesworth.
John Ritchie and Ken dropped in
Sunday, afternoon to visit Mr. and ,
Mrs. Roy Pennington of Wingham
area.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Raynard
and family had his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Nelson Raynard of
Lucknow, Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilkins
and family had on Sunday their
daughter, Barbara of Paris and Jim
Shepherd of Galt and his mother,
Mrs.- Frances Wilkins.
Fred Ritchie of Huntsville visited
Saturday of last week at the home
of his brother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Ritchie.
Mr. and Mrs. John. Hunter and
family visited in London on Sunday
with her sister Raeleen, Mr. and'
Mrs. Jim Campbell, and her, other
sisters in London also called to
visit. -
Mr. and Mrs. „Jim Hunter had
their daughter Wanda, Mr., and
Mrs. Jack Miller of Barrie, on
Sunday. Mrs. Miller is a school
teacher at Camp Borden.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hunter were
invited guests -at the wedding, for
Ruth Brooks on Saturday of last
week in Lucknow United Church.
Election day is Thursday of this
week and the Zion polling place to
cast your ballot for the Provincial"
GOvernment is at the home of
Charles Wilkins from 9 a.m.. to 8

Earl Dow of Mitchell, Ontario is
staying these days at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Ritchie and
BryCe. while they are paving the
Dungannon-Lucknow road. Bryce
is employed there also.

high school graduate, long distance
operator and model attained the
title of Miss Dominion of Canada
/ representing Northern Ontario.
Miss Jacques, prior to becoming
Miss Dominion of Canada, held the
titles of Miss Blind River and Miss
Algoma Kinniwahi.
Miss Dominion of Canada annuJ
ally represents her country in the
Miss Universe,' Miss. World. Miss
International and Queen of the
Pacific Pageants, held in ' such
locations as El Salvadore; London,
England; Tokyo, Japan and Mel-
bourne, Australia.
An irresistible smile, a stature of
5'4" and' 115' lbs. along with a
lively personality won her the title
of Miss Dtiminion of Canada before
television, motion picture cameras
and media from throughout Canada
and U.S.A.
Miss, Jacques has a younger
brother and was born in Blind
River, Ontario. She is bilingual,
speaking freely both English and
French. - She sings, plays guitar'
and composes music. She' enjoys
volleyball,, hockey and. Chinese
Foods. Slie is also a member of the
Blind River Art Club. She hopes
one day to become an interior
decorator.,

Lucknow Women's Institute met
in the assembly room in .the ,town
hall for their September theeting on
__Monday_evening, _September . 8th
with 19 members and 1 visitor
present. After singing the Irititute
Graee we enjoyed • a cup of tea and
lovely dessert which the committee
had prepared.
The meeting was opened with
the. Ode and Mary Stewart Collect,
and the president, Mrs. A, Wilson
welcomed all and especially •a
guest, Mrs. David Ireland, our
District President, from Teeswater.
The correspondence and treasur-
er's report were read by the
secretary Mrs. Bert Gammie and
bbsiness dealt with. Thank you
,cards were read from Mrs. Earl .
McDonald and Mrs. W.
McDonald. Mrs. A. McNay, Mrs.
P. Stewart, Mrs. Grace Campbell
and Mrs. W. Ritchie-had displayed
crafts at the Museum at Southamp-
ton on July 29th.
The training school at Walkerton
on vegetables on September 24 and
25th was discussed. Mrs. George
Kennedy was appointed curator to
replace Mrs. Sam Emmerton who
had moved away.
The roll call was hints on
_preserving and freezing. Mrs. Jim .
McNaughton gave the cheerio
report. Catering to a wedding on
Saturday, 13th of September, was
discussed and plans made.
Mrs.. Omar Brooks Was convener
for the program. The motto,
"Preserve your health not your
wealth" was well giiien by Mrs.
Howard -Barger. Whether we
realize it or not our health is our
most 'treasured possession, we
must do our best to guard it with
care.
Four ladies, Mrs. J. - Wraith,
Mrs. H. Barger, Mrs. Robt. Helm
and Mrs. M. Gibson sang "Beauti-
ful Isle of Somewhere", and
"Count Your Blessings", accomp-

Mrs. Brooks then called on Mrs.
Ireland who spoke on some of the
new by-laws in the Institute and
also the resolutions. 'She also
mentioned the computers that are
being introduced into the stores
and said It' is important for the
Institute members to voice their
opinion as it really has influence in
the making of 'the laws. Mrs.
Ireland also •had on display the
trophy won by Bruce South at the
Area Convention at Kincardine in
