The September meeting of the
Catholic Women's League of St.
Mary's Church, Lucknow, was held
at the home of Mrs. Peter
MacDonald.
The meeting was opened by
Father Dentinger with the League
prayer and he thanked the mem-
bers for their co-operation with the
church work during the'summer.
The correspondence was read
and the financial statement was
given. Projects for the Winter were
discussed and each • family was

St., Peter's Anglican Church
Women resumed their regular
meetings after the summer break.
e president, Mrs. Harvey Mole,
opened the meeting with prayer.
Mrs.' Tom Phillips read the.
scripture •from Isaiah, chapter 35
and the meditation was taken by
Mrs. Mole.
Invitations were read from.
Lucknow and Trinity 'United. Chur-
ches to their Fall Thankoffering
meetings. Mrs. Roulston reported
on the • purchase of drapery
material. Mrs. Mole reported the
Kinsmen and Kinettes have asked
us to' cater to their meetings again
and it was decided to do so. Two
other banquets were also accepted.
Mrs. ,Mole closed the meeting
with prayer.
Unit .3' V.C.W.
On Tuesday, September 2nd,
Unit 3 of the Lucknow United
Church Women met at the home of
Mrs. Jean Jardine with 13 mem-
bers present.
Mrs. Walden opened with a
poem, "Let us look back on, the
road we have trod". The opening
hymn. was #7 and the roll call was
. the name of a tree mentioned in the
• Bible or a verse containing the
word tree. Mrs. Eldon Bradley
acted as secretary in the absence of
Miss Ada Webster. Mrs. Walden
read a letter telling of the activities
of the "King Family" in the
Mission at Cape Croker this
summer.
Discussion followed regarding '
the Santa Claus parade which will
be held on a Sunday in 1975.
Anyone who disapproves is asked
to write to' Eatons of Canada.
Plans were made for .the Fall
Thankoffering and volunteers of-
fered to assist with various duties.
Mr. and Mrs. David Kemp are to
be the guest speakers, Thursday,
September 11th at 8.15 p.m.
Mrs. Jim Ritchie gave her report
on' visitation and Mrs. Jardine's
report showed a balance of $247.85
at the end of June.
Mrs. Walden`lhanked the host-
ess, Mrs. Jardine, and the program
committee, Mrs. Wightman and
Mrs, Ron Alton.
Mrs. Wightmari had as her
theme "Christ". She opened with
a poem "Get a Transfer" and the
hymn "Come let us sing of a
wonderful love. The scripture was
'read by Mrs.- Ronald Alton and the
devotions were given by Mrs. W.
Howald, pertaining to. "Harmony
in ;hey Christian Family". Mrs.
Eunice Dunsmuir sang a solo,
"Just a• Closer Walk With Theie".
Mrs. Wightman prepared the
Study Book, the chapter pertaining
to "Mission Today". Mission
begins with you. "What makes a
family devotion" was discussed:
show love, co-operation, discipline,
kindness, be busy, work together,
all must listen.
Other questions - "Has family
life begun to decline?",, "Why do
certain tenants not allow children
in their houses and apartments?" -
brought interesting discussion.
It was agreed, "Everyone needs
affection, security - feeling of
belonging, creative expression,
recognition, new experiences, self
esteem. A good Christian Family
would see that these six things
would make harMony•and a happy
Christian Family.
Mrs. Wightman closed with a
poem from book ."131 ,„s This
Mess''. Mrs. Walden read the
poem "If Jesus Came to Your
House". The closing hymn was
"Happy the home" and Mrs.
Wightman gave the closing prayer.

.__Mrs—Jacklleedham was hostess
for the September meeting of South
Kinloss W.M.S. The president
Mrs. Ira Diekie presided and
opened the meeting with a poem
entitled "Harvest''.• The hymn,
"Jesus shall reign where'er the
was sung, followed by
prayer. Mrs. Allan,MacIntyre read
the scripture, Hebrews 11:29. and
Hebrews, 12:11 and gave the
meditation on these passages.
An invitation from Lucknow
Evening Auxiliary. was read and
accepted. The ,Fall Thankoffering
was discussed and this matter was
left with the, directors for the
October meeting namely - Mrs.
Bruce Hamilton, Mrs. Jack Need-
ham and Mrs. Jim Burt. The roll
call was a "Harvest- • Verse"
answered by 16 members.
A musical number entitled
"Jesus My Nearest Neighbour" by
Mrs. Ira Dickie, Mrs. Lloyd
MacDougall, Mrs. Allan MacDoug- •
all, accompanied by Mrs. Jack
Needham, was much enjoyed. The
study book chapter, "A World Full
of Strangers" was capably given by
Mrs. Philip Steer.
"Christ for the World" was
sung, followed with the Prayer
Circle with Mrs. Harald Campbell,'
Mrs. Leonard , Clarke and Mrs.
Alvin Schmidt taking part. The
offertory prayer was by Mrs., Jack
Needham. A piano• instrumental by
Mrs. Leonard Clarke was enjoyed..
Mrs. Allan MacIntyre read a poem
"A Smile". A summary of the.
Glad Tidings was given by Mrs. Ira
Dickie and Mrs. Jodi Needham.
Courtesies were extended by
Mrs.. Philip Steer. The closing
hymn, "What a friend we have in
Jesus'.' was sung and the closing
prayer given by Mrs. Wm.
Maclntyre. Grace• was sung and
refreshments served by Mrs. Philip
Steer and Mrs. Allan Maclntyre.
St. Augustine CWL
Father. Dentinger opened the St.
Augustine Catholic Women's
League meeting.
Mrs. Wm. Redmond gave a
scripture reading after whiCh
Father Dentinger commented on
the well chosen passage. •
In the absence of Mrs. Raymond
Boyle, Mrs. Cyril Boyle read thank
you notes from Mrs. Jim Finleon;
Sister Eileen Foran, who wished to
thank the ladies who catered. to
their family dinner in St. Augustine
Hall; and from Carla Hebert, who
received a rosary on her - First
Communion.
Correspondence included a letter
composed by Mrs. Raymond Boyle
which is to be sent to John Foran
who is assisting in compiling the
history of St. Augustine Parish.
Enclosed was a donation from the
C.W.L. Mrs. Wm. Redmond
contacted members to say the
Rosary before -Sunday Mass, also
present the offertory.
The financial report was read by
Mrs. Hebert. Mrs. Fratiken took
the roll call, eleven members
responded. The president, • Mrs.
Joe. Hickey, reported the Deanery
meeting will be held October 20 at
Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church,
Mount Carmel.
Father Dentinger thanked Mrs.
Hebert for the donation • of the
vacuum, cleaner. A vacuum cleaner
is to be purchaed. It was decided
to purchase silverware for the
parish kitchen.
Mrs. Wm. Kinahan adjourned
the meeting. A delicious lunch was
served by the hostesseS in charge.
