Mrs. Jessie Allin of Lucknow
returned home last Saturday after.a
three week visit ,With her daughter,
Mrs. Ralph Haines, Mr. Haines
and family at Wainfleet.
Michelle Gardner, seven-year-
old daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Eugene Gardner of Lucknow, had
her tonsils removed in Wingham
Hospital last •Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Russel Irvin of
Ashfteld celebrated their 25th
wedding anniversary on September
6th, when they were entertained by
their family for dinner at the Blue
Barn, Listowel.
Mrs, Cameron MacDonald, Miss
Maudie Fisher, Mrs. Leonard
MacDonald and Mrs. Armstrong
Wilson, all of Lucknow, spent a few
days last week at Niagara Falls.
Alex (Sandy) MacLeod of Luck-
now is a patient in University
Hospital, London, where he ,under-
went heart surgery last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Shiells of
Lucknovv spent last week at Ottawa
and toured the Ottawa Valley.
Mrs. Wellington Henderson,
Mrs. Cameron MacDonald and
Mrs. Cam Thompson, all of
Lucknow were guests. last Sunday
in Owen Sound with' Mr. and Mrs.
Elwin Hall, Susan and Sally. Sally,
12, was just home from Owen
Sound Hospital,, where she had
undergone an appendectomy the
previous Wednesday:
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Blake of
Ashfield celebrated their 25th
wedding anniversary on September
2nd.

Mrs. Isobelle Martyn returned
home from hospital in London
where she had been a patient for
the past four weeks following
surgery. She is staying with Mr.
and Mrs. Ewan MacLean. Mr. and
Mrs. MacLean and .Mr. and Mrs.
Doug Martyn made several trips to
London to visit Mrs. Marlyn while
she was in hospital.
Mrs. lsobelle MacKenzie of
Lucknow, formerly of this area, has
been under the Doctor's care as she
had shingles.
Mr. and Mrs. K. L. MacKenzie
have been on an extended Western
Canada trip since Mrs. MaeKen-
zie's retirement from teaching.
Silo filling is the order of the day.
However, there are still those who
haven't completed the grain harv-
est due to the bad weather.
Sunday's storm' caused a hydro
failure in the area when a
transformer pole was struck by
lightning in front of the David
Elphick farm.
A funeral to Lochalsh cemetery
on Thursday from Chesley was that
of Mrs. Rev. Matheson.
The W:M.S. of Ashfield Presby-
terian Church held their regular
monthly meeting ' in the church
Thursday evening with Mrs. Edna
Ross in charge of program.
Voting will take place at the
home of Mr. and Mr's. Jim West on
September 18th.
Lochalsh will have a permanent
mark for years to come with the
new memorial sign being erected
on the South side of the road where
the original building stood at
Lochalsh cemetery.
Miss Doris Wylds of Toronto
visited with Dan Wylds and Mr.
and Mrs. Warren Wylds recently.
Several from the area attended
London Fair during the past week.
Recent visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. Oliver McCharles were Mr.
'and Mrs. Donald McCharles and
family of Chatham.
Wednesday evening, friends,
neighbours and relatives gathered
at Ashfield Presbyterian 'Church to
shower ,Miss Donna Wylds,
bride-to-be, with gifts prior to her
wedding.
Many young people of the area,
who have spent the summer at
their homes or at summer employ-
ment, have .returned to their
various schools or their chosen
profession. Among them are
Russell Moncrief, Ken arid David
Farrish and Ian Finlayson.
Surprise Party On
25th Anniversary
The family of Mr.. and Mrs.
Morgan Johnston of Huron Ridge,
KinCardine, held a surprise dinner
party , at the home of their friends,
Mr. and Mrs.. Jack Scott of Ripley.
Friends and relativei from Kincar;
dine, Ripley, "Bervie, Holyrood,
Lucknow and Teeswater attended.
The dining' room was decorated
with pink and white streamers and
bells and the table was centred
with the wedding cake made by
Mrs. Jack Scott and decorated by
Jack Blue of 'Listowel.
Steve Johnston proposed the
toast to his parents and Morgan
replied.
The happy couple received many
beautiful gifts and best wishes.
Morgan and Doris have a family of
three, Jackie,, Steve and. Julie.
Former attendants of 25 years ago
who were again present were Mrs.
Jack Ackert of Holyrood, Lloyd,
Needham of Bervie and Jack Scott
of Ripley.
Doris is a daughter of Mrs.
Ewart Taylor and the late Mr.
Taylor of Lucknow. Morgan is a
son of Mrs. Elliott Johnston now of
Brucelea . Haven, Walkerton and
