Ashfield and ..West Wavvanosh
Townships .acquired a 15 acre site
as the location for thl proposed
new area school to handle the
elementary education for the two
townships. The site was on the 9th
concession of Ashfield, just west of
the Lucknow-Dungannon county
highway.

electrical storm.

Meat rationing was re-introduc-
ed in .Canada,' but different from
the former rationing and was
alined at curtailing the consump-
tion of meat in .the Dominion.
Coupons were used but were
suppleraented .by the use of fibre
tokens each with a value of
.._one eighth of _h coupon, These
were used in making "change"
when a purchaser did not buy meat
to the whole value of a Coupon at
one time. The new plan, which met
with much criticism, allowed ap-
proximately 1 2/3 pounds of meat
per person per week.
School re-opened with the con-
fin uation class teachers Miss
Frances McLean, principal, Mal-
cola' Armstrong, and Miss Bessie
Murdie. ' Public school teachers
were Miss Kate MacDonald, Mrs.
H. G. Sherriff, W. F. Thurnpson,
Miss Isabel Murdie.
After being 41 years in the merchantile business in Lucknow,
R. D. Cameron sold out his interest
in the Cameron, Mut'doch and Co.
store. The purchaser was Wm,
Hornell, formerly of Lucknow, Who had been in business at Reyeistoke,
British Columbia and in Toronto.
Mr. Hornell entered, hii new
business- as manager of the state.
