It is their hope that they will be
able to erect a new barn before
winter.
The farm is known as the former
James Keane place and is on the
6th of Ashfield, about 4 1/2 blocks
west of the Dungannon road on the
north side.. ,
Firemen were on the scene until
about 5.30 .a.m.
While -.the Logtenberg fire was
heing attended by the' fire depart-
ment, a second fire call came in to •
Lucknow at about 1 a.m. The rural
tanker truck had returned to
Lucknow"• about that time for
another load of waterand, miracul-
ously enough, was in town when.
the second call was received.
Firemen responded to the home
of Bert Bushell at Rapid City on the
Lucknow-Holyrood Road. 'It is
known as the former Nat Thomson
residence.
• Passing motorists, Allan Miller,
Lloyd McNall and Howard Pickard
of Langside, had 'noticed fire in the
upper portion of the building.
Unable to rouse anyone, they drove
to Lucknow and turned in The fire
alarm. Fire Chief George Whitby
stated that lightning is, believed to
have been the cause of both fires.
The fire truck returned front the
Logtenberg fire and damage to the
Bushell house was kept to - the
upstairs of the structure, above the
attic line.
No one was home at the time of,
the Bushell house. outbreak, and
firemen, unsure of this fact, had to
force!. entry to the home and check
the smoke and fire filled upstairs of
the home, using their air pack,
,before they could safely assume
that it was unoccupied.
Firemen were up all night
attending to both outbreakS.
Sianleys Visit.
Southern Ireland
Floyd and Lynn Stanley of
Huron Township recently visited
the Republic of Ireland, (southern
Ireland) • for a week.
They travelled by air. to Shannon
and reported the areas that they
visited as quite backward, by our
standards, but very interesting and
quaint.
Floyd repotted that in his talks
with the people of southern
Ireland, it was quite evident that
•
they strongly desire uni
with the north. They s
present north as part of Brit
look on the violence and
political, 'not religious. The
who he talked to feel that a
Ireland would work well poi
the success -of the south wl
population is 95% Catholic
Protestant.
. They feel that the British
prolong the unrest in the r
justify their presence ;
maintain a- hold on N
Ireland.
During their absence,
9-month-old son Dean stay
his grandparents in. Lucknc
and Mrs. Ezra Stanley.
