WRITECHURCH COUPLE
ARRESTED OUT WEST
Mr. And Mrs. Fred Tiffin of
VVhitechurch, were arrested as
they passed through Regina,
Saskatchewan 'recently, and sen-
tenced to spend a night on the
town.
The • couple, travelling 'from
Whitechurch, were arrested by
local police, as part of a publicity
stunt for. Regina's Buffalo Days
celebrations.

The couple received a free
night's lodging and breakfast at the.
Regina Inn, a free tank of gas from
a local Shell dealer, plus an array of
gifts and momentos from the City
of Regina, the Chamber of Com-
merce and local businesses,
The publicity stunt is part of
Regina's Buffalo Days festivities,
beginning each year the last week
end in July, in conjunction with the
Regina Exhibition.

Carolyn and Robin Willis, of
Newry visited a few days last week
with their grandmother, Mrs. Doris
Willis, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Willis and
Lyle. On Sunday Mrs. Gary Willis
came and took the girls home and
left their little brother for a holiday.'
,Mr. and Mrs. Alan Falconer,
Tony and Timmy were Sunday
visitors with Mr. and. Mrs. H.
Purdon Of Strathroy.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Emerson,
Darlene, Sharon and Brenda of St.
Catharines returned home on
Saturday after, holidaying for a
week with Mr. and Mrs. Vic
Emerson and at their farm home.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Frank and
Miss Bessie McGregor of Acton
were Friday visitors with Mr. and.
Mrs. Victor Emerson.
Miss Viola Hill of Verdun,
Manitoba, is this week visiting with
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson and
other Tiffin relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Bev. Kay, Graham
and Wendy arrived home on
Thursday from a two week tour of
the Maritime-Provinces and left on
Saturday for a trip to Northern
Ontario, from where Graham will
fly to British Columbia to enter
University there' the beginning of
the school term.
Recently visiting with Miss
Annie Kennedy of Wingham were
her niece Mrs. Lawrie Herriott and
her husband and family from
Victoria, B.C. They also visited
with Mr. and Mrs. Lorne -Durnin,
Whitechurch and other relatives.
From here they motored to Ottawa
and Montreal.
BENEFIT DANCE
Friday evening,' August 22 was
the scene of much activity, when a
large crowd attended the benefit
dance in Whitechurch Community
Memorial , Hall in honour of Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Versteeg and family,."
who recently had the misfortune to
have then barn burn when struck,
by lightning. The music for
dancing was supplied by Tiffin's
Orchestra. At lunch time Mr. and
Mrs. Versteeg were called to the
platform. Bruce Pewtress gave an
address to Mr. and Mrs. Versteeg'
and Harold Quipp on behalf of the
gathering and donators presented
them with a sum of money. Bill
replied thanking all for coming and
for their kindness in thinking of
them in this way and how much it
means to' one to know that so many
folks are thinking of you. The
ladies were also thanked -for the
bout teons lunch supplied. For,
