Helm Reunion
Held At Ashfield
The, regular session for August of
Council of the Tpwnship of West
Wawanosh was held on Tuesday,
August 5th, in the Public Works
Garage, with all members in
attendance, Reeve. Lyons presid-
ing.
The minutes of the regular July
meeting were read and adopted on
motion of Councillors Hickey and.
Foran. '
A delegation of new property
owners from the village of Dungan-
non were in attendance to discuss
the construction of a road in the
said village for access to lots
recently purchase.d by them. The
owners present agreed that they
would look, after construction of an
access road.
At 9.15 Council 'sat as Court of
Revision on the assessments. in
provisional hy-law #10, 1975, The
Gaunt Municipal` Drain by=law.
After the Court of Revision was
closed, Harvey Sproul of Dungan-
non spoke to Council about the
seemingly unfair charges for street
lights in Dungannon.
Mel Lyons requested Council to
reimburse him for a day's pay and
truck rental which. had been
overlooked earlier in the year. The
discrepancy was found and correct-
ed.
Morley Johnston appeared be-
fore Council with regard to the
Smyth Drain, which is in need of
repair and or improvement. The
Clerk read a letter from Murray
Wilson and Cecil Cranston pertain.

requesting the services of an..
engineer, Council will attempt to
ascertain the feeling of the owners
who have contacted them about the
drain, as to Whether they feel' it
should be engineered or not.
Draft agreements drawn up for
signature by• the three Townships
and Lucknow, who are all involved
with the new tanker truck and fire
hall, were read, studied and,
revised. The Clerk was directed to
return the agreements to the
solicitor, noting the revisions to be
made.
Motion by Councillors Hickey
and Cranston: 'That the Maitland
Valley Conservation Authority
(M.V.C.A.) be enlarged by the
addition of the watersheds of all
streams entering Lake Huron from
the point Where the north boundary
of the M.V.C.A. meets the shore of
Lake Huron to the point where the
south boundary of the Saugeen
Valley Conservation Authority
meets Lake Huron and including all
of Ashfield, Colborne, East and
-West Wawanosh Townships; part
of Huron, Kinloss and Culross
Townships, and. the villageS of
Lucknow and Ripley." Carried.
Motion by Councillors Foran and
Hickey: "That We.st Wawanosh
Township apply for a grant under
the Ontario Home Renewal Pro-
gram."
Motion by Councillors Foran and
Cranston: "that West Wawanosh
Township adopt the Ontario Home
Renewal Program Guide for Resid-
ential property, as its basis for
building standards in the Town-
ships."
The road 'accounts were ordered
paid on motion of Councillors
Stothers and Foran.

At 5 o'clock all sat down for
supper. The `business took place
under the president, Vernon Hunt-
er and Mrs. Allan Ritchie, secret-
ary treasurer.. A minute's silence
was observed in memory of Mrs.
John Gardner and Mrs. Clifford
Hackett.. It was decided that the
reunion would be held the 4th
Sunday of July ' in 1976 at
Lansdowne Park in Kincardine at
1.15 p.m.' when dinner will be
served.
,Prizes took place at the table as
follows: lucky plate, Robert Helm;
youngest child, Douglas Helm;
oldest lady, Mrs. Wm. O. Hunter,
Lucknow; oldest gent', Bert Helm,
Tiverton; 'largest family present,
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Hewitt of
Wingham; farthest distance, Mr.
and Mrs. Dan Robson, George-
town; birthday the closest, David
Robson, August 3rd; most buttons;
Mrs. Wilfred Hackett, 21 buttons;
wearing red shoes, Mrs. John
MacKinnon.
Mrs. Wesley Ritchie headed the
program as follows: two readings
were given by Mrs. Robert Helm
"It Can Be Done" and "That Old
Iron Pump". A selection on the
guitar by Vernon Hewitt accompan-
ied his mother, Mrs. Wilbert
Hewitt, as she sang "A Mansion
Over the Hilltop". Vernon sang a
number of songs with guitar. A
contest on animals was led by Mrs.
Jim Hunter. Mrs. Eunice Duns-
muir favoured with a 'solo "Faith ,
Can Move .Mountaitis". Mrs. Alex
Hackett gave a reading "Show
Me" followed by Mrs. John Mac-
Kinnon with a reading "Little Bit of
Nonsense and a Little Bit of
Sense". All sang "Bless Be the
Tie That Binds".
