PAGE ELEVEN WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 20, 1975 a Died Following Lengthy Illness EARL ALTON HODGINS Earl Alton Hodgins of R. .R. 4 Kincardine, Bervie, , passed away on Sunday, july 27 in Kincardine and District Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Hodgins was born Novem- ber 30, 1903 in Glamis, son of the late Adeline (Needham) and George Hodgins. On June 28, 4930 he married the former Mayme Johnston in Ripley. The Hodgins farmed on the north line of Kincardine Township until retiring in Bervie ten years ago. He was widely known 'throughout the area being an agent for several years with Formosa Fire Insurance Company and later salesman for Pioneer Corn Company and. Crop Insurance. He was' a well respected man in the community and a devoted member and elder of the Bervie United Church. Surviving are his wife; one son, Vernon, Bervie; two daughters, Marjorie, Mrs Bert Elliott, Huron Township; Inez, Mrs. Lorne Forst- er, R. 1 Lucknow; twelve grand- children and one brother Burton, Huron Township,. Funeral 'services were held Tuesday, July 29 from the MacLen- nan Funeral Home' with Rev: .R. Clyde officiating. Interment was in. Kincardine Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ivan Hodgins, Perry Elliott, Keith Hodgins, DUNGANNON Mr. and Mrs. Donald Ross and son, Oakville renewed, acquaintances, in the village on their way to their cottage at Port Elgin on Wednesday. Matthew and Andrew Ott of Kitchener spent the weekend with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Irvine Eedy. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ott were attending a golf tournament. Mr. and Mrs Fred.-Stirling,-- Darlene and Harold spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Irvin. Harold remained for a few days longer while his parents and Darlene went camping. Mrs. Victor Emerson presided for the following program: Wendy Forstet. and Brenda Forster, with Mrs. Jack Forster piano accompan- ist, sang a duet; 'Lori Purdon conducted 'an alphabet contest; a mock wedding skit was given by Mrs. Bill Gibson,' Mrs. • Jack Forster, Mrs. Dan Tiffin, Mrs. Clarence Ritchie, Mrs. Don Ross, Mrs: Wallace Conn, Mrs. Ronald 'Forster, and proved very humorous and entertaining; and Kathy Pur- don conducted 2 contests. The crowd wore messages on clothes pins which were read by Miss Elliott. Mrs. Emerson then read a short address to Ruth, after which the gifts were opened. Assisting Ruth was a public sch ool friend Karen Rivett and a college friend Mrs. Elaine Armstrong. The gifts, were handled by Kathy Purdon, Gayle Rintoul, ' Jane Laidlaw, Karen Elliott looked after the bows. Among the gifts received were: aluminum tray, table cloth, doilie, blankets, dishes, sheets, pillow cases, coffee percolator, tea towels cushion, bath towel, plaques, pillows, bun' basket, scrub pail and mop, ironing board, electric fry 'pan and electric kettle.
