On Monday, July .21st, a mixed
trebles tournament was held in
Lucknow with winners as follows:
first prize, Jack Fisher, Maudie
Fisher and Jaek Henderson; second
. .prize, George Huston's rink° from
Pori. Elgin;, third prize, Wilbur
Brown, Thelma Brown and Gordon
MacPherson; fourth prize, Roy
Finlayson, Isabel Miller and Bill
Hunter,
On Saturday, July 26th, a ladies
trebles tournament was held with
first prize going to the Wingliam .
rink of Nora Finnigan, Ruth Duffy
and Connie Mackay; second prize,
Tillie, Wilson, Maudie Fisher and
Dora' Brooks; third prize, Isabel
Miller, Helen Todd and Thelma
Brown.

Funeral For
Accident Victim
MICHAEL DAHMER
Funeral service for Michael
Dahmer, who lost hislifein a motor
car accidentin Quebec on Monday,
July 21st;, was held on Friday, July
25th at MaCKenzie Memorial
Chapel, Lucknow.,
Michael. Herbert William—Dah-
mer, 24, was a plumber by trade
arid was employed at Douglas
Point. His parents, Mr.. 'and. Mrs.
John Dahmer of Elmira, were both
raised: in Lucknow, his mother
being the former Doreen. Miller.
He Was born in Wingham and
District Hospital on May 1,, 1951.
Michael, who was unmarried had
been on a. holiday in the Maritimes
'and was returning home with
friends, a couple .and their small
child of Halifax, at the time 'of the
single car accident about 60 miles
east .of Quebec City. The friends
were on their way to visit relatives
in Toronto. •
Besides his parents Michael is
survived by one sister, .Mrs, Bert
(Patricia Ann) Golding. of Elmira,
and one. brother Shawn Frederick
at home.. • :
He • was predeceaSed by one
sister 'Kathleen Mae in 1953. '
Rev..L. MacLean conducted the
funeral service and Tony Wittiperis
was organist.
Pallbearers were Rick Jardine,
DaVid Thompson, Allan Miller,
. Paul Rridow, James Spitzig, Bert
Golding.
Flower bearers were Alan Milne,
Brian "Jardine, Horst Gvirinner,
Harvey. Miller, Art Hinchberger.
Interment was iri South KinloSs
Cemetery.

Lucknow Pipe Band, 14 strong,
accompanied by twenty-two other
passengers from Lucknow, Kintail,
Lochalsh and Ripley, made the long
-trek to Sault Ste. Marie by bus to
take part ,,in and tri enjoy the
Highland Games that marked the
centennial anniversary of the Soo
Locks. The local band faced stiff
competition in the "B" band class
and finished in third place.

Lorne MacKenzie, Wallace Hewitt,
Sandy MacDonald, Murray Mac-

JULY 1935
An organization known as the
Lucknow Boosters, and having as
its purpose, the promotion of civic
improvements, came into being. It
was suggested that "this organiza-
tion lend its support to the
promotion of such projects , as,
equipping the Pipe Band, -the
providing of‘a women's washroom,
the construction of a suitable
swimming pool and the endeavour
to bring about better lighting of our
main street". Officers elected
were: Honorary Presidents John
Joynt and the Reeve of the Village
A. W. Hamilton; President, Robert
Rae; Vice President and General
Manager, G: H. Smith; Secretary-
