$150 Million To ,
Municipalities For
Local Proiects
The Departinent of Manpower
and Immigration has announced a
$150 million allocation fcir the Local
Initiatives Program' fOr 1975-76.
This Program Is basically' unalt-
ered from the . Program that has
created a quarter of a million
short-term jobs in the four years of
its existence.
The primary objective of L.I.P. is
-to reduce unemployment by invit-
ing Canadians to submit proposals
°for Community Projects that will
provide jobs.'
To be eligible, projects must
create new jobs; provide a worth-
while facility or service to the
community;, not duplicate' existing
facilities or services; have adequate
financing for any costs over and
above the allowable Federal contri-
bution; employ only the unemploy-
ed.
Projects that tend 'to generate a
continuing dependency on Man-
power funds will not be approved
unless 'it is demonstrated, in
advance, that projects will have a
permanent source of, support.
The miaxirnum size of projects for-
which municipalities can apply is
$150,000. per project.
Applications must be, submitted
by September 12, 1975.
This year the projects May start
operating as early as November 3,
1975.
Eight Teams In
2nd Kinsmen
Ball Tournament
The 2nd annual Kinsmen Inter-
mediate Ball Tournament will he
held at the Lucktiow Ball Park on
Saturday and Sunday of this week.
Eight teams will compete ,for
ChainpionshiP and Consolation
Trophies and cash prizes.
Plenty of enthusiasm has been
shown by the teams entering.
Teams will be from Ripley, Mount
Forest; Walton, Elmira, Strathroy,
Goderich (Dominion Road), Goder-
ich (Lakeport Steelers) and Luck-
now.
Action gets underway at 9.00
Saturday morning and continues
throughout the day, followed with a
dance in the arena on Saturday
night.
Sunday will be Championship
day with the four top teams
competing for the prizes and
trophies.
The Lucknow and District Kins-
men Club sponsor the tournament'
and proceeds will go towards
lighting and ithprovements at the
ball park.
For excitement and some excel-
lent ball, don't miss Saturday and
Sunday at the Luckriow Park.

Last Part Of 4-H Club Exchange
Sees 36 From Indiana In Huron
The last part of the 'Huron
County 4-H Exchange is taking
place from July..17th to July 23rd,
when 36 4-H club members from
Indiina and their chaperones will
be visiting Huron County. '
During their . stay in Huron the
4-H Youth Council has set up
several activities for the Indiana
delegates. On the evening Of July
17th, a ''Weicome to Huron
County" party Was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Carter,
R. R. 3 Blyth. The evening
program consisted of roller skating
at the Blyth Arena, folloWed by
games, .dancing and refreshments
at the Carter fatin. On Friday, July
18th the delegates were taken on a
tour of Huron County in the
morning ,with a tour of Cooks at
Centralia and Canadian Canners at
Exeter and meeting with the Huron
'County Warden, Anson. McKinley
in the afternoon at the County
Council Clitnbers in Goderich.
This was followed by a tour of the
Huron County, Pioneer Museum in
Goderich with Mr, Ray Scotch-men
On Sunday, July 20th, the 4-H
Youth Council had a Party and
Picnic for the Indiana delegates at
Balls Grove near Auburn. Starting
at 2.00 p.m. the delegates and their
hosts participated in games and
swimming, followed by a Pot Luck
Supper and a campfire singsong.
This has been the largest
delegation of 4-H exchange mem-
