THE LUCKNO1N SENTINEL, LUCKNOW, ONTARIO PAGE ELEVEN Honor Lois Wall At Bridal Shower KINLOUGH NEWS A very pleasant evening was spent at the Holyrood Halt on Wednesday when neighbours, rela- tives and friends gathered to honour Miss Lois Wall at a bridal shower. The hall was nicely decorated for the occasion. Mrs. Ernie Hanna • was chairlady and welcomed every- one. Miss .May Boyle led in a singsong and Mrs. Hirina gave a quiz. Lois Hanna, Lynne and Caryn Nicolson sang and also did a comic number. Contests namely: "Pat and Rub", "Parts of a car" and "Vegetables" and "A draw- ing" were enjoyed. , Miss Edna Boyle played the wedding march and Lois and her attendants took their places. Assisting with opening the gifts was Miss Linda Wall, and Miss Lori Hill, read the attached verses, Lois Hanna made an attractive bridal hat from the bows and Mrs. Hanna, Lois, Lynne and Caryn placed the gifts. Lois made a fitting reply and invited everyone to her home to view her trousseau. All joined in singing For She's a Jolly Good Fellow" and a bountiful lunch was served and a social time enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Ed, Schaeffer of Kincardine visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. George Graham. Other visitors at the same home were Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hewitt and Walter Clark of Waterford. Mr. and Mrs. Art Graham of Lucknow, Mrs. Dorothy Thompson and Mrs. Maude Hall of Kincard- ine visited on Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Art Haldenby. Sunday evening visitors with Mr. _and Mrs. Bert Nicholson and Lois were Mr. and Mrs. Harold• Slessor of Glamis. Linda Evans of Erin is also holidaying at the same home. Pro Life Meet At Lucknow A Pro-life meeting was held Monday, June 16, in the Lucknow Town Hall. Adrian Keet, president of the Wingham Pro-life group, chaired the •meeting. It was well represented by groups from Wing- ham, Walkerton and Goderich. Adrian Keet gave the introduc- tions and opening remarks. Mrs. Sally Campeau gave a detailed report on the trip to Ottawa on May 29. They stressed the fact that the most important thing is to eduCate the publiC as to the facts concerning abortion. On June 21, a "Walk for Life" was held with the participants walking 10 miles. The money realized from this project will, go towards advertising expenses and the purchase of literature. Rev. Kenneth Hawthorne, expressed the benefit of using 'radio commercials and reported on the, cost of financing these. A film was shown which stressed the fact that an unborn baby is an individual human being with a right to 'be born and live. It also demonstrated 'the various methods' used in performing abortions. Following the film, a panel was formed of the following people: Connie Osborne, Dr. Wilkins, Dr. Leahy, Mrs.' Sally Campeau, Ad- Keet and George Brophy. Dr. Wilkins brought to light the Christian aspect of abortion, read: ing from. Psalm -139: 12; Jeremiah 1: 4; arid the first part of the book of Luke. The question was raised as to how many abortions are per- formed. Across Canada upwards of 50,000 abortions are performed per year. One hospital alone in Hamilton averaged 120 per week. The meeting 'ended with coffee and cookies being served. The bride's mother wore a mint green gown 'of polyester dorible knit with yellow carnation corsage. The groom's mother chose a sleeveless mint green gown with elbow length cape and pink carnation corsage. The couple are residing on the groom's farm, concession 8 Huron Township. The bride, a Wingharn Hospital graduate, was formerly employed as a Registered Nursing Assistant at Victoria Hospital, London, Guests were present from Lon- don, Thorndale, Wingham, Blue- vale, Kitchener, Guelph, Teeswat- er, Ripley, Kincardine. Pine River United Church, decorated with baby blue glads and white daisies, was the setting for the marriage of Lillian Georgia Mitchell and, Donald Albert „Pollard on Saturday, July 7th, at three o'clock. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Raymond Mitchell and the late Mr. Mitchell of concession 4, Huron Township. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pollard of Freerrtan Olson . Wide crocheted lace trimmed the bodice, cuffs and train. Her finger-tip veil was held by a leaf and petal headpiece. She carried a cascade bouquet of pink sweetheart roses white daisies, lily-of-the-val- ley and blue baby's breath. Matron of honour was Mrs. Joan Helm of Ashfield, sister of the • groom. She wore a floor-length gown of turquoise polyester crepe styled in princess lines with short puffy sleeves., white daisy trim, wide rim floppy hat and carried a basket of white, daisies and blue baby's breath. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Ella Searson of Bluevale and Miss Elaine Mitchell of Huron Town- ship; both, sisters of the bride. Their dresses, hats and flowers were identical to the matron of honour's. Gr000msman was Thomas Mit- chell of. Huron, brother of the bride. Ushers were Donald Mitchell of. Huron, brother of the bride,- and Wayne. Rhody of Huron, 'friend of the groom. Organist was Miss Anne Fergus- on of Kincardine. Soloist was Larry Irwin of. Ripley, who sang "Morn- ing Has Broken", and "May the Good Lord Bless and Keep, You" during the signing of the register. A private reception was held following the wedding at Reid's Corners Hall.
