In making the , announcement, the Minister emphasized the ex- panindg role of the horticultural societies in the community. "They have been, a great catalyst in bringing all levels of the commun- ity together in a common bond, a common interest. "To strengthen further the role of all citizens throughout Ontario in the societies, the amended Act now allows young people under 16 years of age to become associate members for grant purposes. As well, a society in a territorial district or provisional county will only be required to' have 25 members, not the 50 indiViduals previously required for Member- ship.
