Visiting here last Sunday after noon for a short time on his way to Lucknow from Bruce Beach wasDr. Donald M. Finlayson of Toronto. Donald graduated from the Ripley 'Continuation School in June,' 1941; and in that summer his parents, the late Dr. and Mrs. D. R. Finlayson and their family, Donald', Joyce and Bill, moved from Ripley to Toronto. Donald then entered the Univer- sity of Toronto,. in medicine, later graduating as specialist. He now has his office in the Medical Arts Building on Bloor Street in- Toronto. AS well as medicine, the family has always been interested in sports: The late Dr. D. R. Finlayson was a member of lochalsh's great baseball team and before leaving Ripley Donald played for the Ripley Junior hockey team.• So, on his visit here, Donald made a contribution to the new Ripley-Huron Complex. * * * Down' to Coburg this past week end attending the wedding of John Ford were his aunt Miss Christena Robertson and friends Mr. and Mrs. Donnie' Fludder of Ripley. His mother, .Mrs. Wilson Ford, is the former Martha Robertson, daughter of Mrs. Mary Robertson and the* late John Robertson of Ripley. * * * * * Donald M. Blue of Toronto, son of Mrs. Margaret Blue and the late Donald B. Blue of Ripley, and. a graduate of the Ripley District High School, has been appointed vice principal of Allenby School in • Metro Toronto. Donnie will be in charge of the supervision of the Kindergarten to Grade 6 classes in the school with his new duties commencing in September. Since entering the teaching profession several years ago, he has been a member of the Toronto teaching staff. With the regular 'school classes over last Friday, Summer school for the younger girls, and boys started on Monday of this week.. In Ripley Also starting are the • House League softball games and continu- ing on each Tuesday afternoon at two-thirty through July and 'Aug- ust. The games are at the grounds of the Ripley Huron Central School/ John Gamble reports the need for umpires. Anyone having know- ledge of softball and ,willing to' help on one or more of the afternoons, will be' welcome and appreciated. There are four ladies in charge - Mrs. Sheila MacDonald and Mrs. Deane Guikema of the 8th conces- sion west, Mrs. Dorothy Needham Of the: 10th concession and Mrs. Judy vanKooten of Ripley. Jack Scott of Ripley has recently purchased a' new modern ditching machine which he uses in his• farm drainage work. Presently working on the 12th concession in Huron, the machine is able to overcome the underground rock or stone prob- lem. * • *: .* * * Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Niels •Frederiksen in Ripley last week, was Harold Wyld of Weston. * * * * * Last week Mrs. Clara Courtney of Ripley entered Kincardine hospital for treatment of a cardiac condition. Her many friends in Ripley and Huron are glad to learn that Mrs. Courtney's condition has improved and• are looking forward to her return to her Ripley apartment. * * * * * * • Ripley friends and neighbours of Mrs. Charles Wyld are sorry to learn that she is very ill in hospital in Michigan. Evelena, who has been with her daughter Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wyld of Weston, went to Grand Rapids to visit with her sister Mrs. Roy Goodall last week' and became ill while there. Mr. and Mrs. Dick Edmiston of Ripley will be returning from Spain in the near future. They have been in Madrid, where on June 7, they attended the wedding of his DUNGANNON Miss Wanda Park, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Park, is travellingin the West with Mr.' and MrS: Schiemann and Tammy of Belfast for two months. Miss Valerie Park, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Park has secured emPloyment at the Nursing HOme in Lucknow. — Sympathy is extended to family and friends of. Liddle also took a field trip to Toronto on• Friday. • Mr. and Mrs.. Tom Fowler, and family of Parkhill visited his parents; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Fowler on Saturday. Mr. Chas., Fowler received word from Si. Catharines that his brother-in-law, Mr. JameS Figgins had passed away. 4.
