Fan Meeting Of District l0, Agricultural
Societies Planned To Be Iield In Lucknow

The Spring meet for District
10 of Onfario Association of,
Agricultural Societies was • held
Wednesday, "June 4th at Elmwood
COmmunity •Centre with the Ches-
ley Society as hosts to a luncheon at
Ken Reist of Ayton, District!
Director, presided for the meeting.
Addresses of welcome were
given by James Jacklin, 'President
of 'Chesley Agricultural. Society,
Les Abel, Reeve of Brant Town-
ship. Mr. Abel also spoke on
behalf of Albert Worrall, Warden
of Bruce County, who was unable
to attend due to other commit-
ments./
Mrs. Allan Wedow read the
minutes 'of the fall meeting which'
were adopted as read. She also
read the,correspondence.
Mrs. Dolly Stephens, lady rep-
resentative for. ' the district, spoke
briefly. ,She wished all fairs
success in 1975. She gave Mrs. N.
Belfry's name as,one,who had been
left off the list of lady. judges. She
gave a few suggestions for
novelties at the fall fair. The
reports of the fair are to be sent to
Mrs. Stephenson as soon 'as
possible after the fair. The Junior
reports are to be sent to Mrs. John
Arnold, R. 5 Mildmay. •
Ken Reist also spoke and said it
was a real privilege to be the
district director. He spoke briefly
about the convention last February
at Toronto. The convention will be
held in 'the Royal York Hotel again
newt year.

Owen Sound Agricultural Society.
Soft music played in the back-
ground while the names 'of former
Members were announced. Thoie
names ft-4M Lucknow Society were
Torn Todd, Mrs. Jacob Minter and
`Cameron MacDonald. .
..A sing song was enjoyed by all.

Association of Agricultural
ies, Toronto was one of the guest
speakers. He remarked' it was 7
years ago that he was the' guest
speaker at the district meeting but
he has a different outlook on fairs
in that '7 years. He has been 26
years at Toronto. He congratulated
„so many people for taking time off
to attend the meeting. He said no
matter what size your fair is, as
long as you're dOing something for
your community, •it's as' important
to them as the Exhibition is to
Toronto. He reminded all that not
many fairs •.were closing, in fact
. some were reopening. He also
spoke On grants and how they could
be obtained and used. He
mentioned the ploughing match
and stated that it wasn't going to
be open on Sunday.,
Three Chesley ladies livened the
program up with a trio "Three Old
Maids".
The 2nd guest speaker, Alfred
Brunton, chairman of Bruce County
Plowmen's Association, spoke
about the plowing match.. He was
promoting the Bruce County Tartan
sales. He explained the colours in
the tartan, the red and gold
represented the Maple Leaves, the
green was the green grass, blue the
water and the white, the white taps
on the water. , He told about the
Homestead Improvement corniieti-
tion in conjunction with the
plowing match. A question and
answer period was held with
questions being direted to both the
speakers. •
Mrs. John Arnold, associate lady
representative, thanked the host
society.
The fall meeting will be held in'
Lucknow.. The Meaford Society
won the Don Lemon attendance
trophy with 12 members present.
There 'was an attendance of 158
delegates representing 20 societ-
ies . We were reminded to pick up
`: the Calendars. 0 Canada as
sung and the meeting adjou ed.
