iety held their meeting in Langside
church. Cecil de Boer presided,
opening with a sings ng with
music by Cecil de Boer, Graham
Kay and David Miller. Prayer was
given by John de Boer.
The guest speaker,' JOhn F. de
Boer, was introduced by John de
Boer., 'His topic was Personal
Witness..
The offering was received and
dedicated by John de Boer.
Another sing song was enjoyed,
after which Grace was sung and
lunch Served. Guests were present
to enjoy the meeting from the.
Pentecostal Church.

• -• Women, held their regular meeting
on Tuesday afternoon, June 3rd at
the home of Mrs., Robt. Helm.
Mrs. Sam Gibson ' opened the
Meeting with a poem and-the hymn
,"1- am Thine Oh Lord" was sung
followed by prayer. Mrs. Walter
Dexter gave the report on visiting
• Shut-ins and .a reading "Friendli-
ness". Mrs. Al Irwin had a reading
on Stewardship. The quilt blocks
and tea towels were handed in for
Mrs. Nelson Raynard for supply
and welfare.
There were 15 members present
who answered the -roll call. We
were reminded of the general
meeting of the U.C:W. at Silver
Lake on June. 12th at 7 o'clock when
we were asked to bring articles for
crafts.
Mrs. Jim Wraith had charge of
the program and opened with a
verse and. singing hymn 488. The
scripture from Ecclesiastes, chap-
ter 3 was read by Mrs. Jim Wraith
followed by the meditation and
prayer. Mrs. Lorne Woods had a
discussion on the study "Tourism a
blessing or blight". Sometimes
tourism builds up resentment
between the ones who have and
that have not. Mrs. Ross Shiells
gave a reading "Back Home".
Mrs. Marshall Gibson gave a
paper on church union . and 'Mrs.
Mintz a reading "Lilacs". Mrs.
Bill Hunter, convener for social
functions, made arrangements for
Unit 1 for catering for a wedding..
Mrs. Harold Treleaven gave a•
reading "The Growing Season"
and -Mrs. • Jim Wraith a reading
"Ten Ways to be a Poor U.C.W.
Member". The meeting closed
with the Mizpah benediction and
the hostess and committee served
lunch.

Mrs. Raynard Ackert welcomed
20 members- and 2 visitors to her
home for the June meeting of Unit
2, Lucknow United Church Wom-
en. Mrs. Hunter opened the
meeting with a poem followed by a
hymn and prayer. The minutes of
the last meeting were read and
approved.
Miss Lorna Campbell gave the
treasurer's report. Visiting and
friendship was given by Mrs.
MacDonald. Mrs. E. Henderson
and Mrs. Cardis are to visit
shut-ins for July and August; Miss
Helen Thompson for September;
Mrs. Hunter for October.

The tea towels for supply' work
were given in. Mrs. Kirkland
reported on Social Functions. The
general meeting on June 12 is to
take the form_ of a pot luck supper
at Silver Lake. Anyone wishing, to
go is to be at the. church at 630.
Mrs. Zetta Henderson took
charge of the program. Misses
Lena and Elizabeth Robinson gave
an inspiring talk on their' trip to'
Jerusalem, Rome, and Scotland.
They had communion in the
Garden of Gethsemane. They
enjoyed "their trip very much and
, we feel fortunate to have shared
some of it with them thrOugh talk
and pictures. The program ,closed
with the Mizpah benediction. An
auction sale of hobby items was
conducted by Mrs. Harvey Houston'
and a social time followed.

Dungannon' Nile Pastoral charge
held a special worship service and
picnic at Menesetung Camp to
recognize 50 years of church union.
The hymns and sermon followed
the theme "That All May Be One".
Music was provided by Donna Sue .
Errington and Jan Caesar, who
sang with Donna Sue playing her
guitar and by Frances and Irene
Logtenberg, Who sang and accom-
panied themselves with their
guitars. After the service a
bounteous lunch was enjoyed by
all.
Cliff McNeil, clerk of session,
made the preseniation of an
envelope of money to Rev. and
Mrs:McClenaghan On behalf of the
Nile congregation. Rev. McClen-
aghan made a fitting reply and
thanked the gathering for their,
co-operation during his six years as ,
minister. Results of the races were

Review History Of
Women's Groups
On Tuesday afternoon,, June 3,
Unit 3 of the Lucknow United
Church Women met at the home of
Mrs. Grace Campbell, 18 members
and 1 visitor. present. Before and
during the meeting, hymns• and
music recorded on the special
anniversary record celebration
were enjoyed by the members.
The president, Mrs. Glen Wald-
en, used the theme of the meeting
"Praise arid Thanksgiving On the
Church's 50th Birthday" to, intro-
duce the program as suggested in
the June ObserVer with responsive
readings, prayers and hymns.
Mrs. Jean Jardine, Mrs. Jean
McLeod and Mrs. Mae Stuart read
passages of scripture.
The meditation given by Miss
Ada Webster and Mrs. Elleda
Wightman reviewed the highlights
of United Church history from 1925
to the present. Special mention
was made of the contributions of
the various'women's church groups
in the past 50 years, also the
Ladies' Aid which functioned from
1902 to .1924. The " W .A (Women's
Association) which replaced the
Ladies' Aid served the church till
1962 when it was repliced by the
United Chin:6 Women's Associa-
tion/ under the leadership of Mrs.
Ken Cameron. Along with these
groups of women was the W.M.S.,
a, strong organization and the
Missionary Monthly provided
much interesting material for their
meetings. In 1961 the last W.M.S.
president was Mrs. J. W. Joynt.
Following the reading of minutes
of June meeting, roll , call was
answered by members earliest
recollections of the United Church.
Many old souvenirs of the past
events in the history of the church,
including pictures, newspaper it-
ems, and special dedication and
celebration bulletins of 1958. 1962
and 1969 brought back memories.
The president concluded the pro-
gram with further responsive
readings and prayers. The
committee, Mrs. Walden, Mrs.
Stuart and Ada Webster assisted
the hostess Mrs. Campbell' in
serving :unch.
