Honour awards at the recent 4-H
club Achievement Day at Brookside
School. County Honours are for the
Huron County Board of Educa-
tion approved. the salary schedule
for its secondary school teachers at
'a meeting in Clinton. The new pact
will mean an increase in the salary
bill for secondary schools of 29.92
per cent.
The salary schedule for 1974-75
.was $4,058,990 for the 256 teachers
involved.. In 1975-76 it will be
$5,273,621.
Under the agreement the start-
ing salary for high school teachers
Will be from $10,400 to $12,400
depending on the qualifications.' A
teacher with 10 years experience
will earn from $17,400 to $21,900
according to experience.
A cost of living allowance
payable in. April 1976 and August
1976 will see teacher salaries
increased by an additional onethird

Winner At Ripley
Flower Show
The Ripley and District Horticul-
tural Society held their annual
Spring Rower Show in the Legion
Hall on Friday, May 23. There was
an abundance of beautiful .spring
flowers and arrangements and a
large crowd attended.
The president, Mrs. Glen Stan-
ley 'opened the show at 3.00 p.m.
and the' judge, Mrs. Ross Shiells of
Lucknow, gave a few constructive
suggestions and comments.
Mrs. Stanley also made the
presentation of the "Award of
Merit" to Mrs. Walter Farrell, past
president, for her work in the
society over a period of years.
Mrs. Ewan MacLean was the top
prize winner with a total, of 50
points followed by Mrs. Gordon
Farrell with 21 points. Mrs. Glen
Stanley and Mrs. Orville Finlayson
tied for third place with 18 points.
The bake. table and plant table
were hives of activity. The plant
table was ably handled • by Mrs.
Ewan MacLean and Mrs. Gordon
Farrell while Mrs. Bert Irwin and
Mrs. Stewart Shiells looked after
the bake table. '
. Tea and cookies were served by
the ladies and a number of door
prizes were given. leproved a very
successful andenjoyable show and
much credit goes to all who worked
so hard as well as all the interested
guests who attended.

County high schools will receive

vice-principals Will earn from about
$25:000 to $27,400.
Also approved at the Tuesday
night meeting were the salarieS of
the administration officers. Direct-
or Hof Education John Cochrane will
receive $42,924 in 1976. The
salaries of the Superintendents will
range from $32,.193 to $36,792
depending on experience.
