A federal Beef Commission
holding public inquiry into all beef
and veal marketed in Canada will
be in London on june 18 to hear
briefs from, anyone connected with
the production or selling of. beef.
Commissioners are: Mr. Max-
well W. MacKenzie, the commis,
sion chairman. Mr. MacKenzie is a
former civil servant, and was at one
• time Deputy , Chairman of the
Wartime Prices and Trade Board,
and later Deputy Minister of Trade
and Commerce and Deputy Minis-
ter of Defence Production. He
entered the private sector in 1952
and from 1964 until recently was
chairman of the Board of Chemcell
Ltd. Currently he is a director of a
number of companies including
International Multifoods Corp., one
of whose subsidiaries, S. Coorsh
and Sons Ltd., is a producer of
processed meats. He is also
president of Multiplex Corp.
Mrs. Lydia Patty-Cullen - She
haS had extensive experience in
advertising and marketing follow-
ing an early career in journalism
and, radio. Between 1969 and 1974
she was director of advertising and
director of consumer affairs of
Steinbergs Ltd. Food Division.
Currently Mrs. Patty-Cullen is a
marketing consultant and univer-
sity lecturer.
Dr. Hugh Harris - an economist,
directs an international consulting
business based in Edmonton and
has' varied interests and extensive
experience in ranching and cattle
business generally. From .1968-72
he *as Liberal M.P. for the
constituency of EdMonton-Strath-
cona.
District 5 of the N.F.U. will
present a brief on the cost of
producing beef. Local 335 mem-
bers who worked on the prepara-

and Len O'Loughlin.

May has been an excellent
month, weather-wise, for class
field trips in Science and Geog-
raphy. Ted Granger took his Room
'3 class to the river; Miss L. Wright
and her Room 9 class visited the
creek; Miss F. Lemon's Room 4
class went on a hike. The Grade 8
classes had a day with Vince
Elliott, Outdoor Edncation Super-
viSor for Huron County who took
Room. 11's on a mapping excursion
while the Room 12 class had a rock
-surveys
A successful bikeathon was
held from BrookSide School on
Saturday, May 24. Abont 20/0
riders took part, realizing over 4500
for the Ashfield Recreation, Luck-
now Lions and Kinsmen ' Clubs.
MOst of the bikers finished the 40
miles with Doug Blake first in 3
ours, followed closely by Brian
Arnold.

London, is bringing her Senior
Band to entertain Brookside
students in 'the gym on June 6 at 1
o'clock. Anyone in the area who is
interested in seeing this perform-
ance is invited to attend.
