Barbara Wilkins graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Applied Science deg- ree. Barbara's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilkins of Ashfield and Jim Sheppard of Galt attended graduation exercises which were ,held in War Memorial Hall at the University on Wednesday, May 21. Barbara will be employed at Five Oaks at Paris for. the summer months and then plans to work in field nutrition. will be split three , ways. Herb Wilkins of Ashfield was ehairman of the event and Mrs. Barry Hackett acted as secretary- treasurer. Other committee mem- „hers included Cleason Martin,. Grant Farrish, Jim Boak, Allan 'Gibson, Walter Arnold; Bill Searle, Lorne Cook, Tony Johnstone', Brian 'Johnston and Jim Morrison. The share for the 'Recreation Committee will go to further recreation • in Ashfield. The KinSmen plan to 'put their 'share into work atthe local ball park. Johnston of Lucknow recently participated in the opening ceremonies of new quarters for the .College ” of Family Physicians of Canada in Toront r. Johnston cut the ribbon guest of honour and spok gathering. Early this year ollege of Family Physicians o Ca da had moved into new headquarters at 4000 Leslie Street, Willowdale, situated directly opposite the North 'York General Hospital in North Metropolitan Toronto. Th6 new building provides expanded facilities for the ongoing work of the College•administrative staff, as well as its board and committee activities. • A Lucknow general practitioner for many years;' Dr. Johnston went to Toronto in 1954 where he accepted the position of ExecutiVe Director of the newly established College of General 'Practice of Canada. He continued for a 10 year, period until 1.964. A few years later this name was changed' to 'the College of Family Physicians of Canada. Graduation exercises were held Sunday, May 25th at Kitchener- Waterloo Auditorium. He received an honours B.A. in May 1974. David is the' son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Rhody of Kinloss. Lucknow and Kathryn McKim, right, 14-year-old .daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jatk McKim of Lucknow. The presentations were made at the recent mother and daughter banquet at Lucknow United Church. Tom Davidson of Whitechurch appeared before Lucknow Village 2nd For Expansion Among 85 Clubs Lucknow Kinsmen Club placed second for expansion in the 85 club district and was edged out by the St. Catharines CIO which was presented with the award at the recent district convention at Lon- don. Lucknow had previously won the expansion award for Zone B but came up against city competition at the district level. Wins New Car On Weekend Lynda Hamilton, 20, Kitchener daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. "Bud" Hamilton of Lucknow, was the winner of a new 75 Dodge Dart automobile in a draw this past week end. The draw was sponsored by Preston Kinsmen. Lynda was spending the week end here and was at the cottage when her mother received the call telling of her good fortune. The winner had a' choice of receiving $3500 cash instead of the car.,, Lynda will take the money and pay off the car which she purchased last year. Lynda is employed in the office of Factory - Carpet Outlet . in Kitchener and officially received her award on Monday evening. 193 entered the 40 mile Bikea- thon on Saturday with an amazing number of 170 completing the full ' 40 mile route. • Approximately $5700 was raised by pledges and sponsors of the bikers. The Bikeathon was jointly spon-'. sored by. the Ashfield Recreation . Committee, Lucknow and District Kinsmen Club and Lucknow and District Lions Club. Word .was received here Tuesday noon of his success and complete details are not available at press time.. • Grant has been serving as Deputy District Governor of region .3. He is a past 'president of Lucknow and District Lions Club.
