The late Mr.. Cowie is survived by his wife, the former Isabelle MacDonald of Lothalsh, one daughter Mrs. Antonio (Mary Barbara). EsteveS of London, two sons John MacDonald Cowie of Toronto and' Ronald Cowie of Hay. River, North West Territories' and four grandchildren. GUIDE AWARDS CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1 Seventy-five mothers, daughters and special guests attended the banquet which was held at the Lucknow United Church on Thurs- day, May 15. Mrs. Bruce Raynard. 'of West Wawanosh, chairman of the sub- committee for the Parents' Com- mittee, welcomed everyone.. 0 Canada was' sung, accompanied by Jill Murray, followed by a toast to the. Queen. Mrs, Harvey Webster played for the grace, "World Hunger Grace". Mrs. Raynard chaired the pro- gram following the meal. Mrs. Don Catheron, secretary-treasurer of the sub-committee, read minutes of last ypar's banquet and gave' the treasurer's . report. Mrs. Alphonse Murray/ Luck- now, Cookie convener for the Maitee District and Lucknow, reported 60 cartons of Girl Guide cookies sold in Lucknow. She thanked the Guides and Brownies for selling them and Mrs. Bruce Hamilton for Fier help with the organizing. The Brownie•Pack and Guide Company will each get $18.00 for their work in selling the cookies. • Mrs. Don Thompson, Lucknow, badge secretary for Lucknow spoke briefly about, the badge work. Mrs. Angus MacLennan of Goderich, Commission for Beaver lomminommimm Division, brought greetings from Beaver DiVision and Silver Birch Area. She presented Lori McKini with a Beaver Division crest as Lori •was one of three girls whose entry in a contest was chosen to design the Beaver Division crest. Mrs. Jack McKim, Commission- er for Maitee District, thanked the committee for planning the ban', quet and also thanked the leaders of the Guide and Brownie groups in Lucknow for their work with the girls. Mrs. McKim explained "Guiding On The Move" which is ,a project of Guiding this year to make Guiding more visible in the community and to promote travel- ling in Canada among the Guides. A special day is being held August 15 at the Canadian National Exhibition when all Guides in uniform will be allowed into the C.N:E. free. The local Guides and Brownies will 'mark Guiding on 'the Move June 14 at a Revel Rally in Mount Forest. Lorna Boyle, a Lucknow Guide, has been chosen from Maitee District to attend a three day Camp at Midland in August. Mrs. McKim presented Lorna with a $10 cheque from Maitee District to help with her expenses on this trip which is a "Guiding on the Move" project. Mrs. "John 'Gnay of Wingham, Program Advisor for Beaver Divi- sion, was introduced. Mrs. Harvey Webster of Luck- now, who attends •some of 'the Brownie meetings to test Brownies for badges explained how the Brownies saved money to buy agift for their mother to pass the Thrift Badge. ' Mrs. Raynard introduced the 'Brownie leaderS: Brown Owl, Mrs. Harold Greer; Tawny Owl, Mrs. David Kirkland; .Snowy Owl, Mrs. Harold Nicholson; Packee; Sandra Finlay; Guide leaders: Captain, Mrs. Evans Helm; Lieutenant, Mrs.. Brian, Johnston; Lieutenant, Mrs. Jim Morrison. Lorna Boyle proposed a toast to the mothers and her mother Mrs. Jim Boyle replied. Kathy Brooks proposed a toast to the Guiders and Mrs.Harold Nicholson replied. Mrs. Gordon Brooks thanked the Lucknow United Church Women for catering to the banquet. Mrs. Chas.'' McDonald replied. A collection was taken to assist with expenses for the coming year. A film on a camp held in the United. States was shown by Harold Nicholson. Marian Raynard thank- ed.' Mr. Nicholson and presented him with a gift. The following Brownie badges were presented by Mrs. Greer and Mrs.• Kirkland. Mr. and Mrs. Linton Sider of Greenock and Mrs. Grace McGerr of Detroit, Michigan visited with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Elliott on Sunday. Mrs. Victor Gawley and Mr. and Mrs. Les Gawley visited with Mr. and Mrs. Don Robertson Saturday evening. Miss Bonnie Boyle and friend of Brantford arid Tim Rider and friend of Toronto visited Mr. and Mrs. John Farrell on Sunday.
