Dear Don,
I have just returned from visiting
Bill Dellow at True Davidson
Acres. He will be 94 hthe 29 with a
'arvellous memory. There were
two erros in the information I, gave
you before. , Both mistakes were
mine.' Bill had come to Lucknow on
his bicycle from Parkhill, not
Goderich. The distance was 87
miles, the 33 was his distance to
London.
Your great grandfather,' Donald
Campbell, had invited him to
appear at the Caledonian Games in.
August 1900. He was instructed to
report at Campbell's Tea Room on
Campbell Street. He had biked all
the Way without a meal, so has
never forgotten the wonderful
steak Mrs. Campbell cooked. She
also had hot mincemeat pie and
was it ever, good! She was freezing
a 5 gallon freezer of ice cream for
the big day, so he volUnteered to,
turn the freezer. She added
strawberries and he was able tO lick
the freezer. Real cream was used
in those days.
He stayed at the MacDonald
Hotel at the corner where the arena
is now located. On the following
day he rode his bike two miles
around the track as Ontario's
Champion Cyclist.
Incidentally, I , remember. Mrs.
Campbell 15 years later when she
was still making the best ice cream
I have know. Her corn stew after'
skating was always a treat. I like
Bill Dellow, remember Mrs. Camp-
bell as a wonderful person.

TODAYS CHILD
BY HELEN ALLEN
If Terry misbehaves' ( and what boy' doesn't?), his foster
mother. quickly brings him into line by threatening to keep him
home from school. That's the worst punishment she can think of.
Nine-year-old Terry has been at school for several years now
but until last term he was there in body 'only. He wasn't in-
. terested and didn't learn. Now he is in a Special class, working
at the upper 4evel of 'Grade one. Though that is behind his age
group, Terry really loves school, he wants to. learn' and his''
progress is steady..
Terry is a handsome boy, Anglo-Saxon in descent. kle has
blonde hair, blue eyes and -fair skin sprinkled with freckles. He
is in excellent health. When Terry was-a baby, he was diagnosed
as having hydrocephalus ( abnormal bUild-up of fluid inside the
skull). The conditioncorrected itself and has caused no concern
since then.
, Since Terry was not on a level with .his contemporaries . in •
school he didn't like playing with children his own age. In his
frustration at not being able to keep up with' them, he frequently
used to lose his temper and fight. His relations with other
children have now improved greatly and he can share group
activities such as floor hockey. He still prefers adult company.
There's nothing this yotingster likes better' than sharing some'
grown-up chores. He really works too! '
Terry needs a warm, understanding family who will give, him
Much love and attention plus encouragement without pressure
in his school endeavors.
To inquire about adopting Terry, please write to Today's
Child, Ministry of Community and Social ServiceS, Box 888.
Station K, Toronto M4P 2H2.
For general adoption information, consult your local
