Bikeathon Goes
This Weekend
Breakin At
Silverwood Plant
A breakin occurred at the
Silverwood Dairies plant in Luck-
now early Sunday morning.
The north door was forced into
the compressor• room. There was
minor damage but nothing was
stolen.
Constable Harold Spruce of
Kincardine Provincial Police in-
vestigated.
Lucknow Recreation Department
has been advised that the commun-
ity will receive a $1000' grant from
the Ontario Ministry of Community
and 'Social Services, to be used in
the summer recreation program.
The grant will be used for the
operating of a continuing Arts,
Crafts and Playground prograM in
conjunction with the Summer
The highlight of, the Mother-
Daughter banquet for the LucknOw
Brownies and Girl Guides was the
presentation of two Canada Cords,
the highest award. a Guide can
earn. Mrs. A. E. McKim of
Lucknow, who started Guiding' in
Lucknow, presented the _Canada
Cord to her granddaughter Kath-
ryn McKim, and • to Ettabelle
MacDonald. Kathryn, who is 14, is
the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. C.
No relief is in sight for Lucknow
in Bruce County taxation for this
year.
The village haS received the
requisition from Bruce County
Board of Education as well as the
County 'of Bruce.
Mrs. Robert (Lillian) Cottrill of
the Point Clark area • in Huron
Township has received an Advanc-
ed Honours Certificate for the
completion of eighteen 4-H clubs.
Mrs. Cottrill, pictured in the
centre, is a teacher at Lueknow
Swimming Instruction at the , local
pool.
The Arts, Crafts and Playground
program will, operate each morning
from 9 to 12 noon at the Caledonian
Park cortMiencing July 2nd and
continuing to the end of August.
All children of the community are
welcome.

A meeting was held at Brookside
School on May .12. Plans are being
finalized for the Bikeathon to be
held this week end.
.The committee would 'ask the
following of the riders and the
public. •
1. Anyone from town. wanting a '
ride to Brookside, be at the Legion
before 8.30 a.m.
2. People who live on the route,
please keep all dogs tied up that
day.
3. Traffic, please watch for '
bicycles.
4. Please make sure you have
good brakes on your bikes.
A hill on the 4th is sfeep, please
use caution.
Remember, rain or shine, the
bikeathon goes on this Saturday,
May 24th.

two mills.
The county requisition is
$27,128, up from $21,089 for a total
of about 1 mill.
