On Monday evening a civic service was held- in the Presbyter- ian Church when a capacity congregation gathered to mark V-E Day with thanksgiving. This community welcomed the first overseas bride to arrive here, in the person of Mrs. Ralph Hodgins. Mrs. Hodgins was 'a native of Scotland. She was making her home for the time being with members of the Hodgips family in Kinloss Town- ship, until the return of her husband from overseas. Old Light Lodge observed Lad- ies' Night for the first time since 1940. George Kennedy was Master of the Masonic Lodge. 50 YEAR'S AGO MAY 1925 Rev. Robert MacCallum, minist- er of Lucknow Presbyterian Church, died suddenly at age 50. Announcement was made that the two newspapers in Kincardine had been joined into one to be knoWn as 'The Review-Reporter, the property of Mr. J. J. Hunter. PURPLE' GROVE A few of our readers may be interested in the • fact. that Mr. and Mrs. Archie Manners and Chris from the 5th of Kincardine are now living in their recently purchased home in CheSley. Mrs. Dianne Mackay, Miss Susan Miller of Kincardine and Mrs. Arthur Collins visited with Mrs. Judy Thompson last week. Mrs. Collins received a reciprocal visit on Saturday afternoon. On the way over to Collins on Saturday, we had the dubious pleasure of spying a fox in the corn field. I must say, that last mile and a quarter was the longest One I ever walked, putting extra strain on my neck muscles glancing over my shoulder,. Mr. and • Mrs. Allen Rhody and boys moved on Monday, May 12 to their mobile home, which is situated on the 10th concession, just inside , the Kinloss-Huron Township boundaries. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Rhody and daughters have taken up :residence in Allen and Debbie's fortnerhome, locally known as the "Currie place" on the 10th concession of Huron 'Town- ship. Mrs. Harvie Thompson returned to work at Alexandra and Marine General Hospital in Godarich on Monday of last week. Mrs. Thompson has been off, recovering from surgery since February. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Victor Gawley and Mr. and Mrs. Les Gawley on Sunday were Miss Ada, Lettie and Ethel Gawley of Ripley. Passes Skating Tests Patti Barger, ten year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Barger of Ashfield, attended the Spring Skating School in Mitchell on Saturdays and Sundays during April. While there Patti passed her Pre-Figures Badge and Pre-Dance Badge in skating.
