The report on the Fitzgerald Drain Improvement was considered and there being no opposition, was' adopted. The tender • of Joe Metzger for collecting garbage from cottages was accepted at a price of $2300. Tile Drainage loans were accept- ed from William A. Culbert, Jim Hawkins and Lorne Cook. Application for severance was approved for Jerry Weaver. Clerk was instructed to have a representative from the Ministry of Transportation and Communica- tions attend the next meeting on May 20th. Former Resident Died In Goderich MRS. HAROLD FERGUSON Mrs. Harold Ferguson of Goder- ich passed away at her residence at 154 Bruce Street, on Wednesday, April 30th in her seventieth year. She was, the former Pearl Raynard, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell" Raynard, and was horn in Ashfield Township on September 18, 1905. The late Mrs. Ferguson is survived by her husband Harold; two sons and a daughter, Reg of Woodstock, Lorrai (Mrs. James Olson) of Toronto and Jim of Port Elgin; also four g ndchildren, one sister Mrs. George (Hazel) Tvvam- ley of Listowel and two 'brothers, Melvin of Goderich and Nelson of Lucknow. She was predeceased by one sister Mrs. Walter (Lillian) Alton in 1967: The funeral service was held at MacKenzie Memorial Chapel, Lucknow, on Saturday, May 3rd. Rev. Ralph' King of North Street United Church, Goderich was minister., Interment was in Greenhill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gordon Mullin, William Mullin, Frank Alton, Doug Raynard, Ralph Blackstone, Russel Alton. Flower bearers were Chris Raynard, Bruce Raynard, Russel Irvin, Donald Murray, Bud 13itton, Bruce Chapman. Happy Hearts End Year With Luncheon The Ripley Happy Hearts Club closed, their year as far as regular meetings go, by a Pot Luck Luncheon in the Legion Hall. As usual, it was a bountiful meal and was in charge of Mrs. Gladys Huston, Mrs., Violet MacKenzie, Mrs. Norman MacDonald, Mrs. Frank Scott, Reg Moore: It was Mrs. Picot's birthday, so we were glad to all sing Happy Birthday. Miss Christine Robertson showed slides of Ottawa 'and made every- one want to visit there. Reg Godfrey was in charge of the Penny Bingo. Reg Moore aSsited him in the absence of. Lloyd) Arnold. Proceeds went to the Cancer Fund. Some members will assist the Lucknow Club with entertainment on May 12th and the Club will be entertained later.• An invitation had also been extended from Kincardine Club. Two new Directors were elected, Reg Godfrey and Ardill Mason. A bus trip was planned for June 5th to Niagara Falls. Mrs. Ralph Elliott , , Mrs; Morris Reid are in charge. Mrs. Donald Blue read the minutes of the meeting held in Wingham to re-organize Zone 9. There will be a Zone Picnic in Hanover in 'July and a' FaIrRally Paisley. Mrs. Lloyd IrWin was appointed to head the Arthritis Campaign this year. ,EveryOne is urged to purchase the History of Huron Township and Ripley which is in the process of being printed, and will be ready for the Reunion. A committee was appointed to be in charge of a Float for the Reunion. They will be Ardill Mason, Bert and Evelyn Irwin, Reg and Frances Godfrey. Good use was made of the new' Bulletin Board. Some of the lovely spring flowers were taken to Mrs. Ross MartYn and Mrs. Ham MacKin- non. Each monthly meeting was well planned by the various committees and all were different and all were good, so everyone . went hothe happy - true' happy heatts.
