Rising Rolls
WHITECHURCH NEWS
On Monday evening White-
church Rising Rolls 4-H club met at
the home of leader Mrs. Archie
Purdon. There were '6 members

and bread pudding for Achieve-
ment Day. • t
Sylvia' Weber, 'Kathy Purdon,
Wendy Kay and Lorie Purdon were
busy making posters for Achieve-
ment Day.

Snappy Snippers
The eighth Meeting of the St.
Helens Snappy Snippers was open-
ed. with the '4-H' pledge. Thirteen
girls answered the roll call with a
sewing technique they learned
from this project.
The minutes of the seventh
meeting were read by the
secretary. The record books and
blouses have to be in to the leaders
no later than Monday night, May
4th. 'The leaders came around to
each girl and looked at her blouse
and record book. The girls of Club
2 and the leaders watched and
commented on Club 1's skit. Most
of the girls gave their comments on
their blouses for the fashion show
to Marybelle as she is the
commentator. Anyone who didn't
is to hand it in with their books .and
blouse. ' We closed the meeting
with the 4-H Creed.
Zippy Trinettes'
The eighth meeting of the Zippy
Trinettes was held: The president
Failed the 'meeting to order and all
the girls repeated the 4-H pledge in
unison. The roll call was "One new
sewing technique you have learned
in this club."
The business was as follows.
Sharon Alton read the minutes of
the last meeting for Trinity #1. Gail
Hackett read the minutes for
Trinity # 2. Donna Hackett read
the business minutes in Trinity # 1
and Darlene Hackett read the
business minutes for Trinity # 2.
Commentators for the fashion
show, were chosen. The comment-
ator will tell the style, fabric,
fashion accessory used, cost,
pattern number and name for each
girl's blouse.
A club story is to be included in
the Record Books. , "Judging and
giving reasons" was the discussion
for this meeting. The leaders
demonstrated "Finishing the lower
edge of a blouse or slipstitching".
Worked button holes were , also
demonstrated in Trinity # I. Each
girl worked on samples of slip,'
stitching and worked button holes
for her record book.
All' agreed, since this was the
last meeting, in. "What Shall I
Weal , that it has been a
worthwhile club.

OPEN HOUSE I
On April 24, to celebrate
Education Week, 13tinokside School
opened its roon'1 to parents and
other ifiterested , persons of the
cominunity. During the day many
people sat in on regular classes and
viewed displays that , had been set
up.

that day Mrs. Bert Alton gave an
illustrated talk to the Grade ,Eight
Geography students on Australia.
