The Voice of the Unborn, the
Wingham and area Pro-Life Group,
held a meeting at Rev. K.
Hawthorn's on April 28.
A letter of thanks for the
donation sent them, was read from
Alliance for Life, the umbrella
organization for all. Pro-Life
groups. The Alliance for Life
Annual meeting will be held in
Otawa on May 30 and 31, 1975.
The new board of directors as
elected at the ' Annual Meeting
were all present. From their own
numbers they elected the following
officers: Past President, Mrs. Sally
Campeau; President, Adrian Keet;
1st Vice President, Ben Malda; 2nd
Vicet President, George Brophy;
Treasurer, Rev. Kenneth Haw-
thorn; Secretary, Mrs. Susan
Wright.
Adrian Keet chaired the remain-
der of the meeting. New business
included discussion on the possib-
ility of getting Pro-Life commerc-
.., ials on CKNX. radio, plans for a
membership drive, and the purch-
ase of more literature.
The education committee, which
presents the slide and tape
presentation "Abortion-How It Is"
has had several speaking engage-
ments. They are as follows:
Belmore Women's Institute, Pur-
ple Grove Women's Institute, Blyth
Youth Group, Wingham Baptist
Mission Circle, Blyth Christian
Reformed Young Peoples, Huron
Men!s Christian Association (Aub-
urn), Sacred Heart C.W.L. (Tees-
water), Fordwich Women's Insti-
tute, Blyth United Church Women
(Sunshine Group), Blyth United
Church Women (Evening Group).
The education committee con-
sists of doctors, a Student-at-law,
clergymen, and laymen. To date,
they are Dr. R. Wilkins, Dr. B.
Hanlon, Dr. L. Clarke, Dr. P.
Leahy, George Brophy, Student-at-
law, F. Carson, Rev. A.
Nolan, Adrian Keet, Mrs. Sally
Campeau, and Miss Barbara Mur-
ray.
The committee pointed out at
their last speaking engagement
(Blyth U.C.W.) that Dr. Henry
Morgentaler, the Montreal physic-
ian who has been" sentenced to 18
months in prison for performing an
illegal abortion, will share the
American Humanist of the year
award with U.S. feminist Betty
Friedan. There is a great attempt
by a few to make a martyr out of
Morgentaler. It is unfortunate that
the people of Canada do not have
all the facts in the Morgentaler
case ' and thus cannot make an
informed judgement on the matter.
It is important to look at the
non-humanitarian side of Morgen-
taler.
