al NEWS
The 1st Lucknow Brownie Pack
held their regular meeting on
Tuesday, April 29th. Brown Owl
and Tawny Owl helped the
Brownies to continue 'working at
decorating their bottles.
During the meeting Mrs. Web-
ster tested Brownies for interest
badges. Badges passed were
Collector, Luanne MacLeod and
Shirley Loree; Craft, Judy Hunter.
and Tracey McDonagh; Puppeteer,
Shirley Loree and Anne Hamilton.
Several Brownies passed. their
Thrift Badge while others still have
to complete it.
Mrs; Bruce Hamilton came to tell
the Pack about Cookie Day on
Friday, May 2nd. The Sixers then
collected Brownie Gold and the'
meeting was brought to a close
with, Taps.
Lucknow W.I.
On Monday afternoon, May 5th
Lucknow WOmen's Institute gath-
ered in the assembly room: at the
town hall for their regular meeting.
The ladies enjoyed a lovely dessert
and cup of tea after which Mrs.
Armstrong Wilson Opened the
meeting yvith the Ode and Mary
Stewart Collect. The minutes and
Correspondence were read and
business dealt with. A Fun Day to
be held at Silver Lake was
discussed and anyone wishing to go
is to contact a member of the
cominittee, Mrs. H. Barger, Mrs.
R. Leddy or Mrs. A. 'MacNay by
June 1st.
The roll call was answered by 25
members giving a "favourite
saying of my mother", also an
exchange of house plant slips. It
was decided to have the next
meeting at 7.30 p.m. on Monday,
June 2nd. A donation was made to
the summer camp for retarded
children.
The district annual for' Bruce
South, to be held in Lucknow
,United Church on Tuesday, May
20th was discussed , and arrange-
ments were made for it.
The Achievement Day for *the
4-H clubs is to be held at the
Lucknow Public School, Saturday,
May 10th =°
The theme of the program was
Mother, and Mrs. Spence ,Irwin
gave a pleasing vocal solo. The
motto "Strong desire is the Mother
of attainment" was very capably
given by Mrs. Ted Rice.
Mrs. George Kennedy gave a
good report of the Officer's
Convention held in Waterloo on
April 29, 30 and May 1st, which she

attended as a delegate. There were
606 in attendance at the convert=
tion. Hon. Wm. A. Stewart spoke
on Tuesday, praising the nutrition
workshops held by the W.I.'s, also
we should present our views on
violence on TV to Miss Judy
LaMarsh.
Mrs. Maluskie, president of the
Federated Women's Institutes of
Ontario spoke on "Undertake
something that is difficblt, it will do
you good". Mrs. McLean frOm
Nova Scotia, president of F.W.I.C.,
spoke on "You and your
organization". The delegates
enjoyed a bus trip to the Erland Lee
Home at Stoney Creek, several
changes were noticed since last
year. Bob Carbert spoke on the
Museum at Milton to be opened in
1976 where they hope to have a
pioneer farm. • • ,
Mrs. Ted Rice thanked Mrs.
Kennedy and . Mrs. Mary Miller
gave a reading "My Mother" and
the meeting closed with the singing
of the Queen.
