On the last Saturday in April, a
busload of 36 school girls who
played hockey, , along with Elmer
Courtney and Kenny MacDonald,
left Ripley on a trip to Toronto. At
the Toronto airport, they met their
coach Floyd Stanley, principal of
the, Ripley Huron Central School.
Since Mrs. Stanley is an air
stewardess,' Mr. Stanley was' able
to give the party a very good tour of
the airport and two planes there - a
DC 8 and 10-11. From there the
bus took the party down to central
downtown Toronto where they
enjoyed a steak dinner. Then they
went to Maple Leaf Gardens on
Carlton Street fc$ the game
between the Toronto Leafs and
Philadelphia Flyers. \\ Those rugged
Flyers won 4 to 3 in overtime.
Thanks to Ann Courtney and
Heather MacDonald for this info.
