Seems a village resident had purchased some .top soil and unloaded it at his property. Spreading a portion of it, he left the balance to be done another day. When that other day arrived, it was found that the earth had disappeared. Discussions with village residents, who are piped into the underworld activity of the community, soon produced inforni- ation that led to the guilty parties. They were tied into the crime by the fact that they had top soil under their finger nails and were wearing earth shoes. Apparently the dirt diggers had removed the top soil, spreading it on other properties around the Community, including that of one prominent village official. The whole caper is believed to have been a misunderstanding and has been settled amicably. No charges have* been laid. PARKED CAR CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1 up the steep hill which runs north of the atena past Montgomery Motors and known to many as the . '`Ford Garage hill". Ed left his car on the hill, facing south, and in gear. He had only been in the house a few minutes when it was reported by neigh- bodrhood children that the car had run down the hill. The carat first veered to the east side of the road and then back to the west running over a cement retaining wall at the residence of Ted; Granger, know to many as the 'factory house". The wall was broken and the car, a 1968 Chevelle, was. .a complete loss with a twisted frame and other damage. It was a miracle that no one was injured or killed in the incident.. The Granger children, two pre school and two public school, frequently play in -this area but 'were away that day. Had the car run in a straight path, it would have run onto busy Highway 86 at Montgomery Motors corner. Iniured Motorcycle Mishap Saturday Rick Irwin, R.
