VARIETY NIGHT
On April 8th, Ripley District
School annual Variety Night was
held. Due to a storm the week
before our concert was held for only
one night. Gus and Daffy, our
television viewers, played by Roy
Ferguson and *Rosemary Cleland,
started the whole night off /by
watching "A Day, on Television",
theme of our concert this year.
Throughout the evening a lot of top
talent was put on such as the
elementary skit called "Dingwall
Corners,', all the commercials put
on', by many. of our students,
gymnastics which was coached by
Mr. Burnett, out Danceathon skit
directed by Cathy Dore and the
news and weather by • Patti Mac-
Donald and Margie Collins. The
elementary choir' sang a few
selections and was directed by
Miss Campbell. • Thanks goes 'to
Gail Messenger and Kim Farrell,
our music directors. . The mass
choir, glee, double trio plus 'one,
and the quartet presentations were
quite well done. "theg Poulin
Fashion 75" was also a hit with the
audience.. Finally our drama
presentation was put on with
everyone enjoying the perform-
ance. Thanks goes to all those who
helped with the Variety Night and
alSo to all the teachers who gave up
their class time.
Don't forget the Spring Prom. It
is on the 23rd of May. Every
student his tickets to sell. Music
will be provided by the "Dimen-
sions".
DANCE •
There will be a dance held on
April. 25 at Ripley District High
School. It will be from 9-12. Music
will be supplied by. C.A.IC.E. so
let's hope everyone 'comes to this
"Last Dance; Last Chance".
END OF EXAMS
Everyone in the school is
anxiously' awaiting the results of
the. examinations. We wrote our
exams Friday, Monday, Tuesday
and Wednesday of last week. So
good luck to everyone in getting
your marks back.

Speaking finals on Friday evening
at Paisley Public School. Fver,
though he didn't win he gave it a
good try..
SPORTS
The boys, houseleague basketball
just started Friday, Jamie Gal-
lant's team defeated Billy Camer-
on's team 12-2, while Brian
Huston's • team tied Garry Shep-
herd's team 4-4.
METRIC NIGHT
The grade 7 and 8 classes have
been making posters for Metric
Night to be held Thursday, April 24
at the Ripley District High School.
This is for adtiltS in the area, who
are interested. Come to itl You
might learn something.
SPORTS
The girl's houseleague basket-
ball Started last' Friday. Karen
McGarvey's team defeated Dawna
Rutledge's team 6-0 while Shelly
Hackett's team wiped Sandra
Marshall's team 16-0.
What's New
At Huronview
seven new residents were wel-
comed to the Home at the Old
Tyme Music' and Sing Song
program last week. Mrs. Allan and
Mr. and Mrs. McCreath of
Goderich; Mrs., Watson and Mr.
Racho of Egmondville; Mrs. Cox of
Wingham and Bill Govier of
Londesboro; Mary Flynn, Norman
Sp*, Jerry Collins and Philip
Regier provided the music and the
Clinton Christian Reformed volun-
teers assisted with the afternoon '
activities.
The Huronia Mixed Chorus of •
thirty members from Exeter and
surrounding area provided an
Easter Cantata "Haydns Chorus"
on Sunday evening. The program
had been presented on Easter week
end in Exeter and arrangements for
the presentation at the Hothe was
arranged by the Christian Wom-
en's Club. Mrs. McCaffrey is
director of the chorus with piano
accompaniment by Mrs. Wilfong
and Mrs. Moffatt. Mary Van• Camp
thanked the group on behalf of the
residents.
The "Family, Night" program
was arranged by. Mrs. Marjorie.
Heuther and included talent from
Wingham, Bluevale, Walton, Brus-
sels and Clinton. The' vocal
numbers were by Karen Johnston,
Julie McCall and John Heuther
who were accompanied at the piano
by their music teacher, Mrs. Glen
Johnston. There were piano
instrumentals by . Sheila Burke and
Ian Mann;, "accordian selections by
Stephen Burke; dance numbers by
Laurie Goodall and Karen John-
stop. Watson Webster played
some old tyme favourites on the
mouth organ accompanied at the
piano by his daughter Marjorie
Heuther. Mrs. Hackwell, who ia
from the Walton area, thanked the
entertainers on behalf , of the
residents.
Plans have been made to change
the "family Night" program to
Tuesday evening each week begin-
ning in May with the Harboraires
having the first Tuesday program
on May 6th.

Mrs. Laura McNall of Ripley
spent a few days recently with Mr.
and Mrs. Cecil McNall and family.
Mrs. Cecil McNall opened her
home to friends and relatives on
April 9 for 'a miscellaneous
wedding shower, for " Miss Nancy
Swan, of Goclerich, a bride-to-be on
May 3. Mrs: McNall read the
address when the gifts were
.presented. The guests enjoyed
games and a tasty lunch.
Alicia and Faustino Moral and
little son of Mexico are visiting Pat
and Jan Brouillette for the next few .
weeks..
Mrs. Cecil Blake spent a few
days at the first oi the week with
her cousin, Mrs. Lorne Woods,
Lucknow.
Gwen and Mary Bere "finished
the Psychology course they were
taking with the final exam being on
Wednesday evening at Ontario
Hospital, Goderich.
