Spoke On Trip To
The Holy Land
On Tuesday, April 15, St.
Helens United Church Women held
their Easter Thankoffering in the
basement of the church when they
entertained ladies from several
neighbouring churches. ,
Mrs. A. J. Cook gave the call to
worship, "Eastertime is a refresh-
ing of the' soul, a renewal of our
love for God, of our Christian
fellowship, and our Christian
vows". Hymn 466 was sung
accompanied by Miss Barbara
Cameron at 'the piano.
Mrs. Tom Todd read the
scripture, Luke 24: 1-12. Lesson
thoughts• were read. by Mrs. Don
Cameron and a prayer given by
Mrs.,Gordon MacPherSon,
Instrumental numbers were' giv-
en by Don, Barbara and Colin
Cameron and a vocal trio by Peggy
Gordon,,, Dayle MacDonald and.
Valerie Errington. The offering
was taken by Dayle MacDonald and
Valerie Errington and dedicated by
Miss Isobel Miller followed by
Hymn 164.
Mrs.. B. F. Green introduced the
guest speaker Mrs. Andrew Gaunt,
who showed slides of her trip to the
Holy Land last year. Mrs. Gaunt
gave a very interesting and
meaningful talk as she showed the
pictures. • Mrs. Gordon MacPherL
son thanked Mrs. Gaunt and
presented her with a gift. -
The meeting closed with Hymn
366. Grace was sung and a
bountiful lunch and. social hour
enjoyed by all.

Elect New Officers
The St. Augustine Catholic
Women's League ' met in the
• Rectory for the April meeting.
Eleven members attended.
The nominating committee
brought in the following new slate
of officers to hold office for the
following two years: Spiritual
Director, Father Dentinger; Past
President, Mrs. Wm. Kinahan;
President, Mts. Joe Hickey; 1st
Vice President, Mrs. Raymond
Boyle; 2nd Vice President, Mrs.
Gus Redmond; 3rd Vice President,
Mrs. Emma Frankin; Recording
Secretary, Mrs. Cyril Boyle; Treas-
urer, Mrs. George Hebert; Church .
Life, Mrs. Wm. Redmond; Press
Reporter, Mrs. Theodore Red-

The financial report was read;
also monthly reports from the other
offices. There followed discussion
of the forthcoming Provincial
Convention to be held in Windsor,
May 13-14; also a draw of a
suitable article to be held in the fall
was discussed.
Father Dentinger thanked the
officers of the past two years on
their accomplishments and gave
words of encouragement to the new
officers.. Hostesses for the May
meeting are Mrs. Gus Redmond
' and Mrs. Bisenberger.
Father Dentinger gave the
benediction and prayers were said
in unison. Lunch and a social time
was enjoyed.

KINLOUGH NEWS
The Anglican Church Women
met on Thursday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. David Haldenby.
Mrs. Gertrude Walsh presided and
the opening hymn was "The love of
Christ contraineth" followed by
prayers. "Resurrection" was the
word for the roll call,' which was
answered by 12 members, and the
theme of the meeting was Easter.
Mrs. George Graham read the
scripture. Mrs. Midford Wall read
the correspondence. The Diocesan
Annual Meeting will be held on
May 1st at London with the primate
to be the guest speaker. Cards
were signed for the sick. The
'Easter meditation was given by
Miss May Boyle.
The program convener, Mrs.
Jack Scott, presided for the
remainder of the meeting and read
the story of the sower. Mrs.
Delbert Hedley read "I walked
with God". "The Gift of Love" was
read by Miss Edna Boyle. The
reading Spring Cleaning" was
given by Mrs. Garratt.
Mrs. Gertrude Walsh gave the
meditation from the living message
"Choosing". Mrs. Roy Schneller
read "My Wish". The hymn "Lo
God is here" was then sung. Mrs.
Jack Scott read a poem "Do
believe?" and closed' the devotion- -
al'part with prayer.
Rev.. George Garratt spoke about
the folders which 'were given out,
and announced the confirmation
service to be held at Ripley on
Monday evening, 'May 5th. Mrs.
Roy Schneller invited the ladies to
her home for a quilting.
the grace was repeated and Mrs.
Ronald Thacker gave the courtesy
remarks. A lovely lunch' was
served by the hostess assisted by
Mrs. Midford Wall. •
The May meeting will be held at '
the church and will be a quilting
with Mrs. Roy Collins and Mrs.
Howard Thompson -hostesses.

Chalmers Women's Missionary
Society was held on Wednesday,
April 16 at the home of Mrs.
Gordon Rintoul with an attendance
of 12. Mrs. Don Ross; 1st vice
president; presided in the absence
of Mrs. Bill Rintoul, president.
The hymn 0 God our help was sung
with Mrs. Andrew Gaunt pianist.
The scripture lesson was Psalm
27 with Mrs: Helesic leader and the
others reading in unison.' The
meditation and prayer was,given by
Mrs. Robert RoSs. The roll call was
answered by all giving a verse with
the name of a Bible plant.
Mrs. Dawson Craig read the
correspondence. The next meeting
will be May 14, a week earlier, on
account of anniversary and wed-
ding. The leaders are Mrs. Dawson
Craig and. Mrs. Walter Elliott.
Helpers Mrs. Orland Irwin and
Mrs. G. Philips. Roll call - newer
or 'seed of the Bible.
An invitation has been received
from U.C.W. to attend their
Thankoffering meeting on May 13.
Plans were made for someone to
give the Offertory prayer at
Teeswater Presbyterial. . The
offering was received •by Mrs.
Craig and dedicated by Mrs.
Wallace Conn.
All sang, All the way my Saviour
leads me. A reading WOmen at the
Tomb was given by Mrs. Andrew
Gaunt.
'The topic, "Called to be Serv-
ants" was given ' by Mrs. Victor
Emerson telling of the experiences
of . Mary Magdalene at the tomb.
Let us rededicate ourselves to His
service. '
A reading was given by Mrs.
Caslick, The young preacher asking
' for help. Mrs. Caslick asked the
questions, which were answered by
several reading the Biblical an-
swer. Mrs. Wesley Tiffin read the
poem, God is Standing Here with
You.. , The meeting closed with
prayer by Mrs. Robert Ross.
The Ladies Aid then met. The
collection was received. Grace was
sung. The hostess served lunch.
Courtesy remarks were given' by
Mrs. Wallace Conn.

The Easter Thankoffering Of
Lucknow ' Presbyterian Evening
Auiliary was held' Tuesday even-
ing; April 15, in the Sanctuary , of
the Church with' members of Other .
W.M.S. groups as guests. Mrs.
Donalda Scott and Mrs. Glen Noble
provided organ' and piano Mimic as
the guests' arrived. Guests were
greeted by Miss Maudie Fisher,
Mrs. Leonard MacDonald, MrS.
Ross Gammie and Mrs. Frank
Hawthorne.
Mrs. Lloyd Moffat preSided.: She
opened the meeting with a poem
and extended a warm welcome to
the:guests. Hymn 190 was' sung
and devotions taken. by Mrs. RoSs
Hoggart, Mrs. Gauley and Mrs.
'Walker Of Bluevale. Mrs. George
MacLean of Ripley entertained
with 'two accordian solos.
The gueSt speaker for 'the
evening, Miss Edith Patterson, was
introduced by Mrs. V. A. Mow-
bray. Miss Patterson gave an
interesting and inspiring address,
witka wonderful testimony regard-
ing her experience, as she kept
searching for God's plan in her life.
She showed many beautiful and
interesting slides regarding her
work. in. Lebanon.. Miss Patterson
born north of, Ripley and
received her formal education in
that area. She attended Stratford
Normal School and taught 'in
Kincardine Township, Weston and
Toronto. In • 1954, she went to
Egypt to teach in "The English
Mission College Girls' High
School" remaining there until the
Suez War in 1956: From there, she
went to similar work with the
"Lebanon Evangelical Mission" in
Beurut, of which : she is now a
member. Home on furlough at the
present time', she is assisting the
minister of Kincardine United
Church.
Hymn #168 was sung. Mrs.
Scott and Mrs. Noble played an
offertory duet, the offering being
dedicated by Mrs. J. E. MacDon
aid.
Mrs. Lorne Sparks rendered' a
solo "The Holy City": Mrs. Don
Robertson spoke briefly on the •

social ,hour enjoyed by all present.
A replica of Knox Presbyterian
Church, Lucknow, graced the tea
table. This was built and decorated•
for this special meeting by Mrs. R.
E. Forster in honour of the
Centennial Birthday 'of the Presby-
terian Church in Canada.
