Association are making plans
for an "Information Seminar" to be.
held on Wednesday, April 23 at the
Goderich and District Collegiate
institute from" 8 until 10.30 p.m..
The -special speaker is Doctor Hart
Besner, .Phd. Physics. His
topic is "Personal Freedom and
Social Justice,, , Doctor Bezner was
' the guest, speaker at an open
meeting in Goderich• two years ago.
Many will remember him as 'a
forceful, dynamic speaker, dedicat-
ed in speaking up for Life. He is
chairman of the Physics Depart-
ment, Wilfred Laurier University,
Waterloo and Founding Member of
the Kitchener-Waterloo Right 'to
Life. The Pro Life Group now has
380 members so all come and bring
a friend.

District Pro Life Association at-
tended the first annual dinner
meeting and banquet of the Voice
of the Unborn, VVingham's Pro Life
Group which was held at St. Paul's
Anglican Church, Winghani on
Wednesday evening, April 9.
Guest speaker, Dan Murphy, Q.C.,
Goderich stressed that "Society is
responsible for today's permissive
attitudes". He was introduced by
Mrs. Connie Osborn. Co-chairman
was Reverend Ken Hawthorn and
Chairman. Sally Campeau. The
Board of Directors for the (975-76
year 'is: Chairman, Adrien Keet;
Mrs. Sally Campeau, Reverend
Ken Hawthorn, Ben Malda,, Mrs.
Susan Wright and George Brophy.
Thee Goderich, and District Pro
Life Group donated the following
books to the Huron County Library
to be distributed to the five major
libraries in the county. "Abortion
Yes or No" by John L. Grady,
M.D., and "Abortion and 'Social
Justice" edited by Thomas W.
fingers, M.D., and Dennis J,
Horan, Esq., J. D. Contributors
were lawyers, teachers, physicians,
nurses and. ousewives.

QUEEN'S GUINEAS
Again this year the Royal Ag-
ricultural Winter Fair is holding
the Queen's Guineas competition
on Friday, November .21, 1975.
In accordance with the rules, an
exhibitor must:
a') be a qualified member of a
4-H Calf Club in 1975.
b) have participated in a local
Achievement Day.
c) be at least 14 years of age •
d) not have won the 'Guineas pre-
viously.
e') have completed all phases of
-the 4-H project to the satisfaction
of the Club Leader and Extension
Branch personnel.
To be eligible for entry, the
beef steer must:
a) have made an average daily-
gain of at least 2.1 pounds (luring
the five month period May 15 to
October 15,. 1975.
b) weigh at least 800 potmds on.
October 15, 1975., •
c) be examined and certified by
a county culling committee bet-
ween October 1 and October 15,
1975.
d) be cared for and housed on the
same farm until time of delivery
to the Royal.
Those CalfClub members that
qualify to enter, the Guineas or
wish further information, contact
your Club Leader soon so that he
can arrange to have your calf
weighed between May 1 to May
15, 1975.

COMPETITION
This competition is usually
open to senior 4-H Dairy Calf
Club members who have a ser-
ious interest as well as know-
* ledge,. of Ontario's Dairy Indus-
. try. There are four parts to the,
competition that cover a wide
range of tonics. The winner takes
home 75 silVer dollars as a result

During the week of April 8 -
11th four Nutrition Workshops
were held in Bruce County — at.
Wiarton, Paisley; Ripley and Port
Elgin. Mrs. Ann Donohoe, Foods
and Nutrition Specialist from the
Toronto Office of Ontario Ministry
of Agriculture and Food, conduct-
ed sessions dealing with the find-
ings from Nutrition Canada, var-
ious nutrients, their functions and
sources, assuring a good balanced
diet from regular grocery shel-
ves and making wise shopping
decisions. Barb. De Visscher,• the
Bruce County Home Economist,
discussed health protection, en-
richment, additives and safe
handling of foods. About 200
ladies throughout the County took
advantage of the tine day ses- •
sions and seemed to head for'
home with lots of new ideas and
information. If you weren't able
to attend, perhaps you'll• hear
about it from friends and neigh-
of having the highest total score
in 'the four categories.
These include a quiz, an essay,
showmanship and a calf 'to be
shown Labour Day Weekend at
Orangeville. The competition is
sponsored by United Breeders of
Guelph and all interested persons •

Name Jim MacDonald As President Of
Ripley Curling Club, Hold Annual Meeting
The' annual meeting was held at
the Club last. Thursday evening
with all reports pointing to a very
successful season. President
Sandy MacCharles thanked every-
one for their support and asked the
same for his successor, Jim
MacDonald: Treasurer Jene Seller
presented the financial statement
which showed a total of thirty-three
new memberi joining the club this
past season. The president
informed the members that the
new compressor for the ice plant
had arrived, and would be installed
and tested immediately so it will be
ready for the new curling season.
Other officers elected, in addi-
tion to president Jim Ma:cDonald
are: 1st vice president, Bert Elliott;
2nd vice president, Elmer 'Court-
ney; secretary, Murray Culbert;
treasurer, Jene Seller; executive,
Clarence Pollock, Carl Funston,
Donald Paquette Sr. and Gary

The Brownies opened their
meeting on Tuesday, April 15th
with Brownie Ring. Debra
Hufftnan was Fairy Queen and the
Sixers , collected Brownie Gold.
Tawny Owl did inspection for clean
hands followed by the Brownie
Prayer.
Judy Hunter showed the Pack
the four' articles she had made for
the Craft Badge. The Brownies
then played • games "Sleepy and
Dopey" and "Human Ladders",
while craft corner was set up by
Brown Owl and Snowy Owl.
Everyone then joined together to
work at their craft of decorating a
fancy. bottle. This will go towardi
the Brownies earning their Thrift
Badge.'
The meeting closed with the
Squeeze and Taps.
