Rehearsals have begun kir this year's concerts which will be held in three locations in the county. Performing groups will range from, small ensembles, through classroom and school. choirs, to a • massed choir of all participants. Ukulele, recorder and school bands will perform. Students from the Kindergarten age to senior secondary school .will be represented. The first 1975 Music Night will be held on Tuesday, April 29 at F. E. Madill Secondary School. Participating schools will be Blyth Public School, Brussels Public School, East Wawanosh Public School, Grey Central Public School, Howick Central Public School, North Ashfield Public School, Turnberry Central Public School and Wingham Public School, and F. E. Madill Secondary School and Goderich District Collegiate Insti- tute. On Wednesday, May 7, at Goderich District Collegiate Insti- tute, the second, concert will be presented. Brookside Public School, Clinton Public School, Colborne Central Public School, Holmesville Public School, Hul- lett Central Public School, Robertson Memorial Public School Linda Rathwell Heads Garden Club op , The first meeting of the Kairshea -4-H Garden Club was.held at Mrs. Leonard Clarke's on March 31 at 10.00 a.m. The meeting was 'opened with the 4-H pledge. We had the -election of officers and they are as follows:. president, Linda Rathwell; vice president, Laurie Clarke. Mrs. Clarke, told us about the club. Mrs. Clarke and Mrs. Brian Holloway discussed benefits of growing a home vegetable garden and factors to consider in choosing a garden site. We had a quiz to see how' many different flowers and vegetables we knew. and Victoria Public School as well as Central Huron Secondary School and Goderich District Collegiate InStitute will take part on that evening. The third concert will be held at South Huron District High School on Wednesday, May 14 with Exeter Public' School, Hensall Public School, J.A.D. McCurdy Public School, Seaforth Public School, Stephen Central Public School, Usbcirne Central Public School and Zilirieh Public School performing. HIGH COST Vacation time is coming and the trips give many families a deficiency bill to deal with. Joyce Osborne Is 4-H President The Clover Valley 4-H club held its first meeting of "Preservation of Fruit and. Vegetables" on Tuesday, April 1st at the home of Joyce Osborne at 7.15. We opened the meeting with 'the 4-H pledge. The election of officers is as follows:• president, Joyce Osborne; vice president, Wendy Hamilton; treasurer, Kendra Elphick; press reporter, Annette Elphick. • The next meeting will be held at the home of Annette Elphick on Monday, April 7th at 7.15. The name of club and design for cover as well as 50c fees will' be left , for next meeting. Mrs. Frances Elphick distributed members' pamphlets, gave an outline of project, discussed record books and garden reference Ales. Mrs. Joyce Elphick discussed "why grow ,a vegetable garden" and "where to plant a vegetable garden'!.. Mrs. Frances Elphick, discussed planning the garden and where to plant flowers. As a group we planned- a -garden -and talked about selecting seeds. Many interesting facts and experiences were. brought out in this discussion. We closed the meeting with the 4-H motto. Se* 'IV Sews The Kingsbridge Sew 'N' Sews held their 5th meeting on April 2nd at Mrs. Antone Van Osch's house. Roll call was answered when the girls gave their suggestions for their skit on Achievement Day. Mrs. Van Osch read to the girls about staystitching and darts. Then some of the girls staystiched, their material and others put their darts in. • The next meeting is on April 9th, 7.00 p.m., at Mrs. Evers' house. Snappy Snippers The fourth meeting of the St. Helens Snappy Snippers opened with the' 4-H pledge. The roll call followed, with twelve girls present to answer it. The secretary read the minutes of the third meeting. The next meeting is April 9 at 7.15 in the St. Helen's hall. The covers were handed out to each meinber. They are green. The topic for discussion was "Laying on 1 a _Pattern". Marg_MacPtierson, with the help of Marybelle Cranston, demonstrated this for the new members or anyone who didn't know how. Mrs. Celia Aitchison led the discussion on staystitching. Mrs. Marybelle Cranston handed us samples and told, us what they were. These go in our record books. Cotton, polyester, nylon and wool were talked about. Group work was pinning and cutting our material for our blouses. The leaders looked at these. The meeting closed with the creed. Super Sewers DUNGANNON NEWS The sixth meeting of Dungannon II 4-H, club was held at the home of Mrs. Doris Culbert on March 31 at 10 a.m. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge. For roll , call each member showed her page on her planned costuime. During the business it was decided that the next meeting' would be• held at Mrs. Culbert's on April 7 at I p.m. The secretary's report was read by Judy Draper. - The subjects for discussion were darts, seams, seam finishes and facings. Each of the girls took turns reading from the Member's Pamphlet. Irene Logtenberg gave a demon- stration of a darraiid-MrS.
