Unit 3 of Lucknow United Church
Women held their meeting at the
home of Mrs. Thos. Hackett on
TUesday, April 1st. Mrs. Glen
Walden opened the meeting with a
reading entitled "Postlude" fol-
lowed by an Easter hymn and the
Lord's prayer.
Members were given the oppor-
tunity to see and order, if they
wished, gold and silver tea spoons
and a mug commemorating the
50th anniversary of• the. United
Church of Canada..
Mrs. Jessie Alton was in charge
of the program and gave an Easter
reading. Mrs. Jardine read and
commented on the scripture telling
of events on the first Easter morn
at the sepulchre. A reading by.
Mrs.. J. Wraith told of the
triumphal procession into Jerusa-
lem. Mrs. Eunice Dunsmuir sang
"The Old Rugged Cross". The roll
call was answered 'by 17 members.
Mrs. Drennan passed on inform-
ation received from Ernest Ackert
regarding the needs of Silver Lake
Camp this' coming. summer.
Articles requested may be brought
to a service at Silver Lake Camp at
7 p.m. June 10, when Mrs. Jas.
Ward will be guest speaker. At the
close of the` meeting a delicious
lunch was served by the commit-
tee, Mrs. Alton, Mrs. J. Wraith
and Mrs.. Jardine assisted by' the .
hostess.

Seventeen' ladies answered roll
call with an • Easter verse at the
April meeting, of the Lucknow
Presbyterian Church Women's
Missionary Society in the Sunday
School room' of the church. Mrs.
Morgan Henderson presided, and
opened the meeting with an Easter
poem. The Easter program in the
Glad 'Tidings was followed, Mrs.
Robert Reid, Mrs. James Smith
and Mrs. Wm. Stanley taking part.
Mrs; Noble Johnston gave an
appropriate Bible Study, "He is
risen". Following a hymn the
minutes of the March meeting were
read, and approved.
Maitland Presbyterial will meet
in Teeswater on May 5th and the
tucknow W.M.S. Thankoffering
meeting was announced for. April
15th at 8 p.m. in the church. 'A
request for funds for a Nursery.
School for Korean children in
Japan was read. Following the
offering Mrs. Henderson made the
offertory prayer. Mrs. James Little
gave an interesting review of the
highlights of the Glad Tictings.
Mrs. George Kennedy0,44ve a
thought provoking message for
Easter,, "We too shall live".

The topic for the week of April
1st of course was the storm, which
halted traffic and ,was the cause of ,
cancellations Of many functions
including a forced holiday for
schools in the area.
The' Easter ,Thankoffering meet-
ing at the, Ashfield Presbyterian
Church which was to have been
held Friday evening, April ' 4th,
with Dan Rose recently returned
from Africa the guest speaker, was
called off due to bad roads.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank MacLennan
spent a few days in Toronto at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Ainsley
and family.
Sandy MacLennan has been on a
holiday at Levack near Sudbury.
Spending the Easter holiday at
their hdmes in the community,
were Ken, Farrish of Boston, where
he attends school and Doug
Matthewman of Kimberly.
Sympathy of this community is
extended Mrs. Joe Maclntyre and
family in the death of Joe, who was
well known to everyone.
Mrs. Wellington Webster, Jim
and Cecile recently returned from a
trip r to Akron,. ,Ohio, where they
visited with Mr. and Mrs. Atlee
Wise and Patricia.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Ma0Kenzie
returned from a holiday in Miami,
Florida, a gift from their family.
Also home from a holiday in the
south are Mr. and Mrs. -Ewan
MacLean, Mrs., Jim Bradley and
girls,, and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver
McCharles.
Mrs. Henry MacKenzie and
-sister 'Edna Cook of Owen Sound
spent a few days with Miss Viola
Cook -in Windsor and Detroit.

Concert Tour
WHITECHURCH NEWS
Wayne. Farrier of Guelph return-
ed on Friday after being in England
2 weeks with '70 pupils from John
Ross High School, Guelph, whd
were putting on a week of concerts.
There was .a concert and stage
band of which Wayne was in
charge. They put on several
concerts in and around London,
England and spent a week touring
the continent.
Whitechurch . Rising Rolls 4-H
club held a work meeting Saturday
afternoon at the home , of Mrs.
Walter Elliott.
Word has been received from
Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Rintoul that in
their ..vicinity of Schoenberg the
storm really had traffic tied up...
Mrs. Rintoul had 4 folks for a few,
days due to the storm and Leroy
was on a trip to Kentucky from
Tuesday to Saturday with a truck
for a cattle .beast. The trip took
much longer due to the storm.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Miles of Hornepayne on the arrival
of a baby' boy, John Steven, at
Victoria Hospital, London on
Thursday, April 3, 1975. Mrs.
Miles is the former Anne Weber.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Jamieson
were at Victoria Hospital,, London ,
on Saturday to visit with her sister
Mrs. Miles.
' Mr. and Mrs. Gary Johnston of
Mildmay were Saturday evening
visitors with her sister Mrs. Walter
Moore, Mr. Mdore and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Russel McGuire
arrived home Sunday evening from
a 16 day trip by car to Florida.
Mrs. Webster Jacklin of Listowel
is a visitor since Tuesday last with
her daughter Mrs. Archie Purdon,
Mr. Purdon and family.
On Sunday evening the Young
Peoples Society held their meeting
in Chalmers Church Sunday School

On Sunday evening the Young
Peoples Society held their meeting
in Chalmers Church Sunday School
room, The meeting opened with a
sing song with Graham Kay and
Cecil deBoer accompanying On the
guitars. Russel Young was in
charge of the meeting, dealing with
the topic Death: Russel led in
prayer. The scripture read was.
Romans 6: 1-12.—T-he-offering was
received and dedicated by Russel :
Young. Arrangements were made
in connection with the Pancake
Social. Grace was sung and lunch
was served , after which another
sing song with guitar accompani-
ment was enjoyed..
Brian Falconer of Sarnia spent
the week end with Mr. and Mrs.
Robt. Mowbray.
Dick Orr of Langside was a
Saturday caller on' his mother Mrs.
Wtri. Orr at Wingham Hospital and
on his sister Mrs. John L. Currie
and Mr. Currie of Wingham.
Visitors on the week end with
Mr. and Mrs. John L. Currie were
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Toth, Robbie and
Billie of Waterloo and Miss Rachel
Currie of Cambridge who they
brought with them. Miss Currie is
remaining "with Mr. and Mrs.
Currie for a visit. ,
Murray Simpson of Fanshawe
College spent the week end with
his parents Mr. and Mrs. Hugh
Simpson.
Mrs. Earl Caslick visited, with
Mr. and. Mrs. Bill Caslick of
Culross on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Conn on
Sunday visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Douglas Conley and Jason.
Winter really gave us all it had
last week piling up huge banks of
snow. The gas pumps at Bill,
Willis' service station were piled
up with 3 feet of snow. On Sunday
it was cleaned up with the
snowblower by Mack Hutchison.
Some of the. 'back roads in the
community were not opened until
Saturday afternoon.
Mrs. Earl Caslick visited from
Wednesday to Saturday with Mr.
and Mrs. Wilford Caslick of
Wingham.
Callers on Mr. and Mrs, Dan
Tiffin on the week end were Mr.
and Mrs. Bevin Tiffin and. Mr. and
Mrs. Doug Tiffin.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Purdon of
West Wawanosh , were Sunday
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Wesley.
Tiffin.
Chalmers W.M.S. will hold
their April meeting on Wednesday
16th at the home of Mrs. Gordon
Rintoul. The leaders are Mrs.
Caslick and .Mrs. Robert Ross.
Helpers are Mrs. Russel Ross and
Mrs. Frank Mevvhinney. Roll call
a plant of the Bible. Topic, Spring.

Due to weather conditions' the
opening of Sunday School at
Chalmers Church was postponed
until April '13 at 9.45.
There were no church services on
Sunday, April 6 at the United
Church because Mr. Larry King
was unable to get from Toronto due
to weather conditions.
At Chalmers Presbyterian
Church, Graham Kay conducted'
the service of worship because his
father Bev Kay was unable to come
from Toronto due to the road •
conditions. Graham' gave a very
interesting sermon on The
Difference Easter Makes.
Nat Thompson of Lucknow was a
Sunday afternoon visitor with Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Emerson.
Whitechurch Women's Institute
Curator and Annual meeting. will
be held April 14 in Whitechurch
Community Memorial Hall with a
noon pot luck dinner. Roll call -
Bring your house log and tell what
you added this year and put it in
the display or game a food or
utensil used SO years ago. Pay your
fees. Bring•donation of homemade
candy for hospital.
