Died At Age 49
PETER de BOER
Peter, . de. Boer, a Kinloss
Township farmer, passed away at
Wingham and District Hospital on,
Thursday, March 20th following a
lengthy illness.. He was 49.
The late, Mr. de Boer was born in
Menaldum, Holland on July 5th,
1925, a son of Mrs. Symon. de Boer,
now of Lucknow and the-late Symon
de Boer. •
He worked with the underground
during World War II from 1943' to .
.1945 and served for 3 1/2 years in
Indonesia as a soldier from 1945 to
1949.
On January 22nd, '1952 he
married Roely Meyeringh of As-
sen, Holland. In April• he and his
bride came to Canada. For a time
they resided at Belfast - and later
settled in Kinloss Township.
Besides his wife, Mr. de. Boer is
survived by three sons, and three
daughters, Simon, John, Nancy,
Fred, Hilda and Joanne, all 'at
home; his mother Mrs. Symon , de
Boer of Lucknow; four brothers and
two sisters, John of Kinloss
Township, Dick' of Turnberry,
Teme of Holland, Mrs. Hank
(Pietie) Kragt of British Columbia,.
Dirk (Tinie) Logtenberg of.,
Dungannon, Wim of West Wawa-
nosh
He was • predeceased by his
father Symon de. Boer of Lucknow
in' May, 1974.
Mr. de Boer was a member of
Langside Presbyterian Church,
where the funeral service 'was held
on Sunday, March 23. Rev. Glenn
Noble and Mr. Bev Kay conducted
the service. •A duet was sung by
Mrs. G. Young and ,Mrs. Philip
Steer. Organist was Mrs. Robert
Bregman.
Honorary pallbearers were El-
mer Scott, Philip Steer and Wally
Weirsma.,
Active pallbeareit were Robert
Bregman, David Moffat, Peter
Scheurwater, Arnold Scott, Gerry
Vander Klippe, James Young.
Flower bearers were Janet de
Boer, Fran LOgtenberg, Helen
Weirsma.
Interment was in Teeswater
Cemetery.
MacPherson ,Funeral Home,
Teeswater was in charge of funeral
arrangements.

The Holyrood Women's Institute
held its annual pot luck supper and
family night on Wednesday even-
ing. • A bountiful meal was enjoyed
by everyone and this ,was followed
by a program which began with the
singing of 0 Canada. and The more

The president Mrs. P. A. Murray
welcomed everyone and then called
on "The Irish Rovers" from Ripley,
who delighted everyone with their
music and singing, and also their
Irish wit. In the 'group were Mrs:•
Minnie Lock, "Mrs. Florence "Kirk-
patrick; Mrs. Mary MacDonald,
Mrs. Margaret Blue and. Mrs.
Annie Scott. Frank Scott provided
violin music and Mrs. Violet
MacKenzie was pianist.
The guest speaker was Floyd
Stanley, principal of the Ripley
Huron Central School', who showed
pictures of Russia in his pleasing
informative manner. Floyd is a
Kinlough boy and is, well known
having travelled extensively, and
was on a leave of absence from
Ripley some time ago, when' he
taught. school in Germany. "
Mrs. Jack Scott introduced Floyd
giving an outline of his life, and
Mrs. Gerald Rhody' expressed
thanks on behalf of the Institute.
Mrs. Murray again thanked every-
one who had contributed to the
evening in both food and entertain-
ment. • Conveners were Mrs.
Gerald Rhody and Mrs. .P. A .
Murray.
