Juveniles Bow To
Watford In
Ont. Semifinals
Lucknow Juvenile hockey•team
was eliminated by Watford in the
Ontario Minor Hockey Association
Juvenile *'D" semifinals.
WatfOrd won 3, straight .games,
the third game being played in
Lucknow on Tuesday of last week.
The score of this game was 8-3 for
Watford.
Kevin Ackert scored 1. 'goal. Ian
Montgomery had two' goals and an
assist. Assists ' went to Dennis
Thompson, Murray Thompson and
Fred Black.
The game. ended in a bit of a
"smozzle" with fisticuffs prevalent
between fans and players. .The
ganie was called with less than a
minute still on the time clock.
Team manager Bill Hunter has
indicated his appreciation for the
fan support throughout the season,
(physical support as well).
The team will continue to play in
the W.O.A.A. Juvenile , Grand
Lucknow Arena

The first game in Lucknow on
Easter Sunday night was cancelled
due to stormy winter weather
conditions.

'Advance To
0.M.H.A. Finals
It was "come from behind"
hockey in the .first two" periods for
the Ripley Juveniles on Saturday
night, but the boys ended up with a
3 goal lead to win the game 7. - 4
over Thedford.
Thedford , came out flying in the
first period, scoring 2 goals in the
first' 3 minutes. However, Dave
MacDonald scored twice, with
Courtney Liddle assisting on one,
toeatch up. With 51 seconds to go,
Thedford went ahead. In the
second period, Johnny Elliott
scored twice, with assists from
Roger Farrell and Mike Gallant,
while. Thedford only managed to
score once. Going into the third
period tied, the capacity crowd
came to its feet as Dave MacDonald
shot the go ahead goal. Roger
Farrell took a pass from Johnny
Elliott and delivered the insurance
marker, then Johnny Elliott added
another to make sure. Perry Elliott
annual bonspiel on Friday and
Saturday. Ivan, curling ,with Lois
and Verd •Vanstone aild Vicki
Culbert piled up a record of three
wins, and a plus of sixteen, and
were the winners of the nine
o'clock draw. Ron Farrell's local
rink of Maithel Wilson, Doug
Dahmer and Diane Farrell took
second place with two wins and a
plus of eleven. Third place was won
by Don Maus' Kincardine entry of
wife, Sue and Jerry and Henry
Emmerton with two wins and' a, plus'
of ten. The consolation, on this
draw, was won by Charles Liddle'
with wife, Barbara, brother Dale
and Kathy Hunter with one win
and a plus of six. Other entries
were those of Stewart Higgins and
Harold Fair.
Jim Hawkins of Goderich, with'
wife Barbara, and Tom and. Betty
Moore took the eleven o'clock draw
with three wins and a plus of seven.
Second position went to Vern
Hunter's Lucknow entry with wife
Anna, and Jack Scott and Doris
Johnston. Jack did the skipping for
this rink for a record of two wins
and a plus often. Jim MacTavish's
local entry of wife. Marjorie, and
Harry and Evelyn Coiling took third
place with two wins and a plus of
nine. Consolation winner -was the
John Matheson Kincardine rink
with' one win plus two. John was
assisted by wife Eileen, and Jack
and Grace Pym. Finishing out 'of
the money were the, entries of
Donald MacTivish and Doug
Campbell.
A Teeswater entry with Lloyd
and Shirley LamOnt, Ron and Marj
Hill. won the one o'clock draw with
a record of three wins plus twelVe.
Allan Matheson, curling with
Sandra Kempton, Sandy Pollock
and Margie MacTavish' took the
second spot with two wins and a
plus of eight. Third place went to
Bert Elliott's rink of wife Mari, and
Gordon and Ruth Patterson with
two wins plus two. The consolation
winner was Ken Dahmer's rink of
Karen Shane, Don Fair and Vicky
Smith with one win plus five.
A lucky draw for prizes donated •

' Evelyn Coiling was named
President of the Ladies' section of
the Ripley Curling Club for the
1975-76 s ason at their annual
meeting on Tuesday last. This
meeting followed a single game for
the President's trophy which was
won by Jean VVylds and her rink of
Marj MacTavish, Mary Armstrong
sparing for Kate Hunter, and Mary
Ann MacDonald. The runner-up
rink with Skip Sharon Courtney, \:
Joan MacKay, Deanna Scott and '
Ursula , Burnett provided keen
competition for the winners.
EVeTyn Coiling presented the
current President Mabel Barnard
with a gift on behalf of the Ladies'
Club. Following the play-off and
the meeting a lovely lunch was
served by the social committee.
Past, President Mabel Barnard
has asked me to express her thanks
