MacDonald LUCKNOW / House League Winds Up With Skating, All Star Game And Social Time Between Players And Parents Bantams Play Three In Week Lucknow Bantam hockey team, after having a lengthy break between games in W.O.A.A. Consolation Round,, played three games in recent days. Last Thursday night they travel- led, to Blyth -and played ,an exhibition game. *Lucknow won 8-2. Scoring were Mark Frayne three; Tom Sinnett two, Alex Irvin, Ron Johnson and Eric Cayley, one each. Assists went to Torn Shiflett , two; Steve 'Hamilton and David Errington one each. On Sunday night, Listowel provided the opposition in the local arena. The first two periods were very dose with both teams playing some excellent hockey. Lucknow led 4-3 going into the third period. However in the third period Listowel overpowered the Lucknow boys and went on to win the game 8-5. The Lucknow team is in D category and Listowel in B. Scoring in this game were Tom Sinnett two goals, and singles to Steve Hamilton, Danny Londry and Mark Frayne. Assists were by Ron Johnson two,• Eric Cayley, Grant Gilchrist, Tom ,Sinnett, Danny Londry and David Erringtori, one each. , Monday night, Lucknow travel- led to. Hensall and played a game in the Consolation Round. ,They won that game 9-2. Heilman took a good number of penalties and played a rather rough game. While they practiced their rough play, the Lucknow marksmen went to work. Scoring were: Mark Frayne, two goals and three assists; Eric Cayley, two goals and one assist-. Jim VanOsch, one goal; Alex Irvin, one goal; Tor Sinnett, one goal and one assist, 'addy Murray, one goal; Ron Johnson, one goal; assists also went to Tom Hender- son, Paddy Murray, Danny Londry and Steve Hamilton. At the time of writing, the Lucknow team was waiting on word concerning the final points of the Paisley team td' determine the winner of the trophy. THERE WILL BE AN SMALL INSTALLATION,. CHARGE uveniles Win 12-2 Over Arthur Lucknow' Juvenile hockey team played Arthur on Monday night in. Lucknow in the first game of the W.O.A.A. Grand Championship playoffs. • Lucknow won 12-2. The second game is in Arthur on Thursday. Scoring for Lucknow were Den- nis Thompson, 3 goals, 2 assists; Stewart Mann, 3 goals 1 assist; Ian Montgomery, 2 goals; Cam Cook, 1 goal; Kevin Murray, 1' goal, 1 assist; Bob MacGillivray, 1 goal, 2 assists; Kevin Ackert, 1 goal, 2 assists; Fred Black, 2 assists; Jeff Taylor, 1 assist; John •Hamilton, 1 assist. On Wednesday, March 26th, the house league ,wound up its winter activities. The parents and boys enjoyed an hour's skating at 7 p.m. At 8 p.m. the All-Stars from the "Canucks, Seals and Flyers, coached by Ray DesRoches, blanked the All-Stars from the Sabres, Island- ers and, the Kings • coached • by Harry Burgsma. Richard Jurjens opened the scoring from Stephen Howard. Joey DesRoches com- pleted the scoring from Stephen Howard. Randy Guay and David Williams shared the shut out. Kevin Murray and Bob MacGil- livray, the referees, called a total of 11 minor penalties. After the hockey game everyone proceeded to the -Legion Hall for lunch. Ross Errington, convener of the House League, acted as master' of ceremonies. He thanked everyone for their`co-operation in making the House League such a success , this past winter. He paid special thanks to the Kinsmen for their donation of the 1k0•sweaters to outfit the six teams; the Legion, for supplying their hall for lunch; Bill Taylor, the arena manager, for his fine co-operation during the season;- Mrs. Ray DesRoches and her committee, for organizing the lunch; the many referees who, helped out this past winter; the many coaches who gave their time to assist the boys. Each of the coaches spoke a, few words, Clem Steffler for the Kings, Ray Des Roches for the Seals, Har- ry. Burgsma for the Islanders, Don Dennis and Gary Ritchie for the Flyers, Bob Humphrey for •the Sabres. • Cal McClenaghan, coach of the Canucks, was' absent. Bill Halden- by assisted •Bob Humphrey this year with the Sabres and many of the parents helped Clem Steffler with the Kings. Fleas Consolation Winners At Blyth Tournament Lucknow started off the Blyth Flea Tournament with their oppon- ents' being Brussels in the 9.00 o'clock game. This was a very exciting game with 'the score tied 3-3 at the end of the third period, and went into a 5 minute overtime period with Brussels scoring one goal to win the game. This put Lucknow iitto the ConsOlation round. Scoiling fbr • Lucknow were Grant Murray 2 goals, Paul Johnstone 1, Jamie Bere, Lynn Murray and Don Peterson, 1 assist each. - Lucknow's second game was against Blyth and this too went into overtime. The score at the end of the third period was 2-2. This was followed by two five minute overtime periods with Lucknow scoring one to take the game. Scoring for Lucknow in this' game were Jamie Bere 2, Don Peterson 1, with assists going to Steve Alton, Alex. West and Grant Murray. Jamie Bere scored the winning goal keeping Lucknow in the Consola- tion round. In the Consolation finalr- Luck- now won over Zurich 6-0, Scoring for Lucknow were Grant Murray 2, singles to Paul Johnstone, Law- rence Clark, Jamie Bere and Don. Peterson. Assists went to Jamie Dere, 'Lynn Murray, John D. Mac- Kenzie, 'Paul Johnstone, Don. Peterson and Steve Alton. Grant Murray won 'the hockey stick for the most valuable player. Final game of the season will be played on Saturday, April 5th against Belgrave at the local arena at 7.00 p.m. Richard" Jurjens, captain of the Canucks, was 'presented with the Cotisolation Trophy donated by Wm. A. "Bud" Hamilton. John O'Keefe, •captain of the Sabres,' was presented' with the Championship trophy 'donated by the Lucknow Recreation Commit- tee. Ross Errington made both presentations.
