This is what Ontario is doing to help make it available to everyone. 1 !II mop, 14 WIMP, 10 0 oa Ontario is the best place in Canada to get a higher education. Why? First, the range and diversity of programs our institutions offer. Second, the Ontario Governroent programs that help students finance their education. Already, 2 out of 5 students at Ontario colleges and universities are receiving financial aid through the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP). OSAP assists full-time postsecondary students with government-financed loans and grant based on heed, not on academic achieve- ment. Now, starting with the 1975-76 academic year, there will be two new' programs. The Ontario Student Loans 'Plan is de- signed to help students who are ineligible for aid from OSAP. benefit part-time students, some students enrolled in up- grading programs and thote taking pro- grams 'which are shorter, or have different entry standards than required by OSAP regulations. The Ontario Special Bursary Program gives non-repayable grants to people in' serious financial need, particularly those who can improve their financial situation ' by taking one or more courses. It's designed for part-tirrie students who receive social assistance, are unemployed, or who have a low family income. If you would like to know, what financial assistance is available to you, and how to apply for it, contact the Student Awards Officer at the institution of your choice. Assistant with an excerpt from- Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau's remarks at ,Sault Ste, 'Marie was read: The Prime Minister Opposes "Free Abortion 'On Demand" Prime Minister: I don't know if your slogan is "free abortion on demand", but quite frankly it is not mine. At some point you are killing life in the fetus. Whether it's after three months or eight months, at some point an abortion is killing. I will never say that the persOn 'Who kills doesn't have to answer in some way for that killing and justify it in some way. And if I kill a man in self-defence, I should be able to explain the causes of it and the courts will force me to do it. If a mother kills her Child, or if a doctor kills a fetus' in self-defence - of what? of the mother's health or of her happiness or of her social rights or her privilege as a huinan being? Lucknow - I think she should have to answer for it and explain. Now, whether it should be to three doctors or one doctor or to a .priest or to her mother-in-law is a question you might want to argue. But do not believe, as I think the extreme case is put very often by the Women's Lib, that a person who commits this act of destruction - free abortion on demand - should just treat it as ... "It's my body, you know, I have a right over my own body." You do have a right over your own body - it iskyour body. But the fetus is not your body, 'it's somebody else's body. And if you kill it, you'll have to exaplin. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Alice Krohrner. There are two basic points that farmers must underStand - the need to Organize and the kind of organization needed to be effect- ive. In his Director's message, Lorne Luther of 'District S explains these two points. If firmerS organize effectively we can retain the family farm, privately owned, financed' and , operated by the family. If we don't organize the alternative is vertical- ly integrated family conglOmerates put together by . trapping' farmers desperate fOr credit and exploiting them as long as their equity lasts, followed by large corporate farms operated by hired help. We have only to look around us to realize that this is happening. The corporate farm will do nothing for the farmer or the consumer. Too many of us are putting our faith in Government to solve this problein, but Gevernments are made up 'of politicians and politic- ians only' solve 'political problems. Out problem is a social economic one and must be solved inside the farm community itself. Organized properly we can pressure Govern- merit to pass legislation to assist us. Whether we remain farmers or hired hands will be decided by the deeisions we make today. What 'kind of an organization do farmers need, provincial or nation, al? The Canadian Egg Marketing Agency (CEMA) is a classic example of provincial blundering, with ten provincial boards trying to make policy to, their individual advantage and using the National authority for a dumping ground. One thing above all else that an agency such as CEMA needs is the power to regulate imports and the movement of its product between provinces.. This is . a federal jurisdiction and will never be given to provincial authorities. The question is will the little provincial emperors give up their authority or are their empires more important to them than the farmers they represent? The farmers must make this important decision which affects them - provincial or national organization. We are all Canadians and Ontario is part of Canada. Provincial farm organizations sep- arate Ontario :from the rest of -Canada.
