Mrs.• Frank Hawthorne weleom- ed everyone and. opened the meeting with a hymn. She made a few announcements and the offer- ing was received and 'dedicated. The United Church ladies prov- ided the program' under the leadership of Mrs. Charles Ander- Chalmers WMS VVHITECHURCH NEWS Chalmer's Women's Missionary Society held their, meeting March 19 at , 2 p.m. 'at the home of Mrs. Victor EMerson. The president Mrs. Wm, Rintoul opened the meeting , with A Thought for Easter. The hymn Beneath the cross was sung with organist Mrs. Andrew Gaunt accompanying. The , scripture from Matthew, chapters 26 and 27; was read by. all. What the Lord's Prayer °Really Means was read in. 6 parts by Mrs. Don Ross, Mrs. Earl Caslick, Mrs. Wallace Conn, Mrs. Andrew Gaunt, Mrs. Wesley Tiffin, Mrs. W. R. Purdon. Mrs. Wm. Rintoul led in prayer. Mrs. Wesley Tiffin ' gave a reading, "The Beautiful Snow". All joined in singing ;resits keep me 'near the cross. Mrs. Andrew Gaunt gave a reading "Easter". Mrs. Victor Emerson gave the topic - The Message of Resurrec- tion, looking over the 3 years of Jesus ministry. She closed with the poem My Saviour and Prayer. The roll call was answered by 14 with a verse with cross.' The offering was received and dedicat- ed by Mrs. Craig. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. V. Emerson for the treasurer, Mrs. Wallace Milligan. The closing hymn Rejoice the Lord is King was sung and Mrs. Robert Ross gave 'the Closing prayer. The Ladies Aid meeting was then held and the colleCtion received by the treasurer Mrs. John de Boer. 'Mrs. Wm. Purdon showed the quilt top and the crib quilt top she had made. Mrs. V. Emerson showed the quilt top she had made. These tops are made from men's wool suit samples and sell for $4. Mrs. Emerson also showed the beautiful circular skirt made from the samples by Mary Lou Milligan. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Gordon Rintoul. ••:•. • son and Mrs. Leonard Ritchie, the theme being 'Easter Hope". During the 'hymn "In the Cross of Christ I glory", those, taking part came forward in a Candlelight procession. " Mrs. Charles Anderson opened with the call to worship followed by a responsive reading by Mrs. Leonard Ritchie. Following the scripture reading by Mrs. •Harold Greer, Mrs. Harvey Houston favoured with a piano instrument- al. Mrs. Bob Campbell and Mrs. Albert Morningstar read "Be Still and Know That I Am God" and "Easter Sunrise". Mrs. Allan Johnson and Mrs.• Bob Campbell favoured with a vocal duet. Mrs. Elmo Sanderson and Mrs. Armstrong Wilson read "The Time of Awakenink" and "Magdelenes Message" followed by a hymni Mrs. Alan . Johnson presented a very inspiring message on "Easter Hope". Mrs. Herb Barger favoured with an accordian solo. Others reading Easter „messages were Miss. Elizabeth Ritchie and Mrs..Bob Struthers. Mrs. Ritchie led in prayer and during the hymn "Rejoice the Lord is King", those taking part departed in a candle- light, procession with a Presbyter- ian Auxiliary member by their side. Mrs. Noble Johnston thanked the U.C.W. for their program and for coming to their meeting. Mrs. Allan Johnson led the ladies in a game of Musical Easter 'Hats. A social hour followed. R. C. McClenaghan opened the 'March,18 meeting of Dungan- non United ;Church Women by welcoming many guests and read- ing an Easter worship passage. Hymn 103, "The day of , resurrec- tion" followed with Rev. R. C. McClenaghan accompanying 'on the piano. Mrs. Wilfred Pentland read from Matthew in "Good News • for Modern Man" and followed with an article on Easter. ,Hymn 115, "Crown Him with many crowns" was sung. Mrs. McClenaghan led in prayer. Frances and Irene Logtenberg gave two musical numbers entitled "How Great Thou Art" and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee". Mrs. McClenaghan introduced Mrs. Andrew Gaunt, who' showed interesting pictures of the Holy Land and gave , a very inforinative commentary with each slide. Mrs. George Errington thanked Mrs. Gaunt on behalf of all ladies present. Mrs. Lorne Hasty conducted the business. The roll call was answered with "An Easter Thought". 'Many thank-you 'notes were read. Dungannon ladies are invited to Auburn Easter Thank- Offering meeting on March, 23 at 8 p.ni. Presbyterian Women's Missionary Society. Mrs. Wm. MacPherson presided in the absence of -the president, Mrs. Ruth Wilson. The hymn Rejoice the' 'Lord is King opened the meeting and following this the W.M.S. Purpose was repeated in unison. An invitation from Lucknow Evening Auxiliary to attend their Easter Thankoffering in the form of a Centennial Birthday Celebration was accepted. Miss Edyth. Patterson will be guest speaker. Arrangements were made for a cleaning bee at the church on ThurSday, March 27th at 1 p.m. Roll call was an Easter verse. and Mrs. Don Robertson concluded with an Easter prayer. 'Fifteen ladies were present. Mrs. S. McDonald read several short articles on the Church's Centen- nial. Mrs. Don Bushell and Mrs. Don Reid were conveners for the program and used the Eastef Service in the , Glad Tidings. Scriptures from Luke 14, verses 13-27 and Luke 24, verses 28-35 were read by Mrs. Don Bushell and Mrs. Frank Maulden. The film "Holy Week in Jerusa- lem" was shown. The hymn "Christ the Lord is risen" was sung. Mrs. Don Robertson read an' article "A Small Reflection" by Agnes Pierce from the Glad tidings. Prayer and Grace closed, the meeting and the courtesy remarks were given by- Mrs. Don Reid. Delicious refreshments were serv- ed by the hostess and help-ers. Presbyterial presided for the 13th Annual meeting, of Bruce Presbyterial held in Grace United Church," Hanover,„ recently and Mrs. H. Magwood, president of Grace U.C.W. welcomed the members. Greetings from Sudbury, Halton and Niagara Presbyterials were read by Mrs. Catharine Grant, the Corresponding Secretary. Miss C. Hutton, president of Grey U.C.W. Presbyterial brought greetings and reported that Grey Presbyterial's motto for this year is "More Alive in '75". The president • of Hamilton, Conference, Mrs. Elsie Durant extended good wishes from the Conference. Mrs. Mabel Huber and Mrs.' Walter King' reported on several of the new books in the literatUre display. Clifford U.C.W. were in charge of the music for the day. The speaker in the morning session was Miss -Edith Pat- terson, assistant minister of Kincardine United Church. Her topic was "The Lebanon Evangelical Mission", where she worked for some years before coming to Kincardine. The afternoon speaker was Dr. Howard Brox of Toronto, Director of 'the Division of Missions' in Canada for the United Church. He spoke on the Theme of the Annual "Fifty Years - Now What?" in con- nection with the 50th Anniversary of the United Church in Canada. • The worship program was presented by Elmwood U.C.W. and the "In Memoriam" ser- vice was conducted' by Mount Forest U.C.W. Mrs. Art MacDonald of Teeswater presented the 1975 slate of officers and Rev. Glen Strome of Hanover, chairman of Bruce Presbytery conducted the Installation of Officers. The Officers for 1975 are:- president, Mrs. Robt.' Turnbull, -Port Elgin; vice-presidents, Mrs. A.B. Eagles, Southam- pton, Mrs. C.E. Tupper, Harriston and Mrs. R. Slade, Kincardine; rec. sec. It was announced that Hamilton Conference would' be holding their Annual on March 18th and 19th in St. James- Rosemount United Church in Kitchener.
