Show Of Stars
Slated For Arena
On Sunday
An interesting hockey. game,
'being 'billed. as "The Stars of
Yesterday versus The Stars'. of
Today" will take place at Lucknow
Arena on Sunday afternoon, March
23rd at 1 p.m.
The Lucknow Pee Wees .of 1949 )
the champions of the first Goderich
Pee Wee Young Canada tourna-
ment, will be playing the Goderich
Pee Wees of 1949 in a 7 p.m. game
Saturday night in Goderich.
Fresh from their Goderich- game,
the Pee Wees' will make the
overnight trip to Lucknow and be
ready for the 1 p.m. game Sunday
against LucknOw Kinsmen.
Reports are that all Kinsmen
plan to be in bed, by 9p.m.
Saturday .night" so as to be in
excellent condition when they take
to • the ice against the Much
heralded Pee Wee. team,
Given the advantage of the Pee
Wee road trip, the Kinsmen are
slight favourites. , However, the
Pee Wees will be using many
seasoned veterans in their lineup,
along, with a few of the younger
men from the 1950 and 51 teams.
The Kinsmen, in comparison,
will be icing many untried rookies
and will have 'a much lighter team.
Sunday's game at 1 p.m. should
be an interesting 'one: Proceeds
will go to the 'Kinsmen project of
financial assistance for furnishings
and equipment at the medical
centre.
House League
Hockey Results.
On Saturday, March 15th, in the
first game •of the play-offs, the
Islanders and the Flyers tied 1 to 1.
Duane Rivet opened the scoring
for the Islanders. Rick Harman
tied the score late in the 'game.
Penalty shots were taken to decide
a winner. 'Alan Rivett and Joe
Boyle each tallied a goal for the
Islanders on penalty shots while
the Flyers failed 'to score a goal.
In the second game the Seals
blanked the Kings 1 to 0 on a goal .

registered the shut out.
In the third game the Sabres
blanked the Canucks 4 to 0. John
O'Keefe, Floyd Courtney, David
Atkinson and Stephen Frayne each
dented the twine for the Sabres
while Mike Frayne registered the
shut out.

22nd, 10.00 Flyers vs Kings; 11.00
Seals, vs Sabres; 12.00 Canucks vs
Flyers or Kings for the Consolation
trophy; 1.00 Islanders vs Seals or,
Sabres, for the championship
trophy.

parents; 8.00 All Star Hockey
game; 9.00 lunch at the Legion
Hall.

CURLING NEWS

The first round of the annual
Wind-up bonspiel was played on
Saturday last under considerable
difficulty. .The club is grateful for
repairs made by Howard Hodge so
the curling' could be completed,
which' occurred about midnight.
Bert Elliott's rink of Marion Robb,
Dennis Courtney and Ursula. Burn-
ett took first place with three wins
and a plus of eleven, edging out
Don McLay's entry, of Barbara
Liddle, Sandy Pollock and. John
Coiling who •had a record of three
wins and a plus of seven. John D.
Coiling curling with Jean MacTav-
ish, Jerry Huber and Margie
MacTavish were in third place with
two wins and a plus of six. Gary

In Durham
Atom Tournament
Lucknow Atoms made a strong,
showing the Durham ' Little
Husky hockey. tournament .on
Saturday, but lost out in the
championship round to Durham:
In the first game against
Stayner, Lucknow won by a score of
4-2. Lucknow goals were by
George Alton, Allan Eadie from
Arthur ,Clark, Dave Gibson, Ken
Afton.
Lucknow won over Drayton 8-6 in
the second game. Goal scorers for
Lucknow were George Alton 2 and
1 assist; Allan Eadie, 1, goal and 1
assist; Dave Emberlin, 1 goal; Glen
Raynard, 2 goals; Art Clark, 1 goal;
Don Greer, 1 goal. Single assists
-went to Dave Gibson and Ken
IrWin.
This ,was the • best and closest
game of the day with Lucknow.
winning on penalty shots.
The score was tied 3-3 at the end
of the third period. After 15 shots
for each team, the Lucknow
sharpshooters won by scoring 5
goals to Drayton's 3.
'In the third and Championship
game, Lucknow was played out and
went. down to defeat by a score of
Durham' 9; Lucknow 2.
Goal 'scorers for this game were
George Alton from Paul MacIntyre,
Arthur Clark from Dave Gibson and
Glen Raynard.
Ripley Series
Tied At 11
Ripley opened .the OMHA
Juvenile semi final series in
Thedford last Priday by taking a 4-1
logs. Roger Farrell, on a pass from
Mike Gallant, scored the only goal.
Sunday 'afternoon it was differ-
ent, with the boys winning 4-3.
David MacDonald scored 3 , goals
and Johnny Elliott 1.
These teams are really evenly
matched, so be sure to get out
Thursday, March 20 at 8.30 in •
Ripley to see the third •game.
Courtney had two wins and a plus
of five curling with Peg MacChar-
les, Bob' Lyons and Kate Hunter,
for fourth spot. In fifth was J. S.
Ilobb''S rink of Marje MacTavish,
Ed Fink and Ruthe Patterson.
Taking sixth and •the. final playoff
spot was Charles' Liddle's rink of
Doris . Johnston, Terry Paquette
and Judy Van Kooten. J. S. had a
record of two wins arid a plus of
four while Chalies made it With one
win and a plus of five.
Skipping other rinks missing the
final round, hut still taking home
the bacon, were Sandy MacChar-
les, Don Paquette, Bob Johnston,
Howard. Hodge, Don Gaunt and
Ronald Farrell.
