Pee Wees Go Down To Cayuga, Show
Local Fans Some Excellent Hockey

The Lucknow Pee Wee hockey •
leant plaYed the Cayuga Pee Wees
in Lucknow on March 12. It was
the, third game of the series and
Cayuga won the game by a-score of
4-3 in overtime.
This was one of the best games
of hockey played at .the arena this
season. Both teams kept up a
terrific pace and„ at the end of
regulation time the score was tied
3-3.
The game went into a 10 minute
overtime period which provectto be.
a real crowd thriller. Never once
did either team give up and finally
at the 7 minute mark the Cayuga
team scored. Lucknow came on
stronger than ever but unfortunate-
ly, •the hands of the clock won out.
Scoring for Lucknow were Brad-
ley Humphrey, '2 goals and Douglas
Dorscht, .1 goal. Assists went to
Douglas. Dorscht 2, Larry MacPher:-
son 2.
This put Cayuga up twogames to
one in the series.
Lucknow travelled to Cayuga on
Saturday, March 15, and this
proved to be the final game of 'this
series. Cayuga defeated Lucknow'
by a score of 4-1. Although

playoffs, Lucknow defeated Mild-
may 6-3 in. Mildmay on March 14.
Goal scorers for Lucknow were

Monday and. Lucknow was victor-

Lucknow lost the series, local
'hockey fatis are very proud of the
team.
"It's not whether you win or lose,
It's how you play the game" and
the Luckow team certainly played
good hockey and showed good
sportsmanship throughout the
series. .
Scoring for Lucknow was. Doug-
las Dorscht from Steven Simpson.
Cayuga won 'the' series three
games to one.
We hope this proves to our
coach, manager and trainer that it
is worthwhile putting • up with we
parents, in order to have a team
which plays hockey like these lads
do.
Fleas Come Close
In Tournament
At Teeswater
LucknoW Fleas were very close to
adding another trophy to their
collection on Monday of this week.
The Annual Flea Hockey Tourna
ment. was staged in Teeswater;
with eight teams taking part.
Blyth was the winner, edging out '
Lucknow in the • Championship
game 2-1.
Teeswater was the Consolation
winner.
In the first game Lucknow
trounced Teeswater. 5-1. Scoring
for Lucknow were Jamie Bere',
assisted by. Lynn. Murray; Donnie
Peterson from Steve Alton; Paul
Johnstone from Grant Murray;
Grant Murray from Jamie Bere and
Alex West from Jamie Bere.
Lucknow then went on to meet
Fordwich and shut them out 3-0.
Scoring were Grant Murray froin
Lynn Murray and Don Peterson;
Paul Johnstone from Grant Murray
and Jamie Bere; 'Grant Murray
from Steve Alton.
The final game, as the' score
indicates, was really exciting and
could have easily been won by
either team. The score was tie#1-1
going into the third period. Blyth
scored the winner in the third.
Lutknow deserves a good deal of
credit for their performance in the
tournament. The only goal scored
in the final period was scored by
Jamie Bere from Grant Murray and
Paul Johnstone.
last Saturday night in Lucknow,
the veterans sat out -the game and
the younger members took to the
ice against Ripley. The tinal score
was 8-2 for Ripley. Scoring for
Lucknow , were , Brian DeGroot,
unassisted and Robbie Gibbons
assisted by Paul Jerome.
This Saturday night Lucknow will
play Mildmay at 7.00 in the local
arena. Proceeds from this game
will go to Crippled Children'.

Juveniles Need
Sixth Game To
Decide Winner
After a strong start in the
0.11/44:H.A. :Juvenile "D" quarter
finals against Caledon, Lucknow
were. "Behind: the, 8-Ball" on
Monday as this was written.
Monday ,hight's,garne in ,Caledon,
reported elsewhere, 'is a do or die
match.
Lucknow won the first game in
the series and tied the second, both
reported in last week's issue.

In the third game in Lucknow on
Wednesday of last' week, the
Sepoys defeated Caledon by a score
of 5-2. Murray Thompson scored 3
goals, Dennis Thompson scored
once with Kevin Murray scoring
the fifth' marker.
Assists• went to' Kevin Murray 2,
Ian Montgomery 2, Kevin Ackert,
,Stewart Mann and Ken Reid, 1
each.
LOSE 3-1
Back in Caledon , on Thursday
Lucknow lost a 3-1 game with
Dennis Thompson scoring 1 goal
and 1 assist'.
LOSE 4-3
In a close fought game on
Sunday in Lucknow, before a large
crowd, Caledon edged Lucknow 4-3
scoring the winning goal with 1
minute and 55 seconds remaining
in the 'game. A tie was all that
Lticknow needed to win the series,
having 1 point from the second
game in the series which 'ended a
tie.
Lucknow's goals were scored by
Dennis Thompson, 'Murray Thomp-
son, Ian Montgomery. Assists,
went „to Kevin Murray, Ian
-Montgomery, Cam Cook, Kevin
Ackert and Jeff Taylor.
This sent the teams into the final
game in Caledon Monday with the
series deadlocked at 2 wins each
and 1 tie.
