Scoring for Lucknow were Doug Dorscht, 2 goals and Barry Elphick 1. Assists went 'to Meikel Becker, Brad Humphrey and Larry Mac- Pherson. Last Minute Goal Gives Victory DON'T FORGET . Quarter Final Series With Caledon, Play Third Game Here Wednesday • THE ,LIKKNOW -SENTINEL, LUCKNOW, ONTARIO Lucknow's Flea hockey team Won the Championship Trophy in 'the Annual Flea Hockey Tournament played in Blyth on Saturday. The tournament will be one the boys, the coaches and supporters will not soon, forget. From the first game in the morning to the final game in the afternoon it was action at its best. Four teams were entered in the tournament, Clinton,- Belgrave, Lucknow and Blyth. A 4-team Atom tournament was also played in Blyth that day. In the first Flea game, _Clinton defeated Blyth. The second game matched the Belgrave and Lucknow teams. This is the same team that has given the Lucknow boy's their only two defeats of the season. At' the end of regulation time the score was 0-0. Five minutes of overtime was played and Lucknow won'on shots on gial 3-1. Blyth then defeated Belgrave in the consolation final. The championship game provid- ed another exciting encounter. Clinton provided the opposition and opened the scoring in the first period. They held on to the 1-0 lead until the third period when Lucknow Win. Flea Tournament In Blyth On Saturday, Goalie Paul Jerome Picked As Outstanding Player One step in the WOAA Grand Championship was completed Tuesday night in Hanover when Ripley Juvenile team defeated the Hanover boys 5-3. Fresh from this victory ,the team took a bus to Grand Valley the next night for the first ' game in the OMHA quarter finals. David MacDonald got 3, Johnny Elliott 2 and Rick Smith 1 goal to make the score 6-2. Back on home ice on Sunday it ' was a different story, with the Grand Valley team all fired up. With only 18 seconds tp play, David MacDonald scored the winning goal to make the score' 8-7. Johnny Elliott and Rick Smith scored twice, with Roger Farrell, Danny Walden and Mike Gallant, scoring the other goals. The third game in the series was eyed Monday, with the fourth' me, if necessary, Wednesday, arch 12., On Saturday, March 8 Lucknow Pee Wees hosted the Cayuga Pee Wees here in the first game of the . O.M.H.A.. quarter final playoffs. This series is a best .3 out of 5. Lucknow won the first game by a score of 4-3. This game was Pee. Wee hockey at its best. On Sunday, March, 9; Lucknow, travelled to Cayuga and we were defeated by a score of 2-1. This was a real game of hockey, both teams playing well. It was anyone's game as these two teams are very evenly matched. LucknoW Juvenile hockey team is presently playing a . best-of-five series in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association Juvenile "D" quarter finals. Lucknow won the first game here Friday night by a 34 score. lan Montgomery scored all three Lucknow goals with assists going to Kevin Murray 3, Bob,McGillivray 2 and Ken Reid 1. Gordie Black suffered a painful shoulder separation early in the game which will pin him out for the season. TIE GAME SUNDAY The Caledon home game was played 'at Inglewood on Sunday afternoon and, coming from, be- hind; Lucknow tied 5-5 after 10 minutes 'of overtime. It was 5-2 for Caledon early in the third period with Lucknow coming to life and scoring three successive times: without a reply from the opposition. Consolation playoffs. Arthur Clark from Dave Gibson and Glen Raynard, Allan Ea,die unassisted were the goal scorers for Lucknow. In the first game against Mildmay, played at Lucknow, the final score was 7-1 for Lucknow. With just one minute left to play in the five minute overtime period Jamie 'Sere scored the winner on a perfect break and accurate shot. His goal was unassisted. Lucknow' received 3 penalties during this game ;and' held off the opposition while playing shorthanded.. The team was well deserving of their win as each member gave one hundred percent. Net minder, Paul Jerome played excellent hockey in both games: The trophy was presented to •the- team captain Lynn . Murray. A hockey stick was. presented to Paul Jerome as the outstanding placer. The parents and others, are to be congratulated for their su port towards the team in the tour a- ments. The team will play in the Annual Flea Tournament at Teeswater on Monday, March 17th.
