The Brownies opened 'their
meeting on Tuesday, February
25th with Brownie Ring. • Lori
Stanley was Fairy Queen and
Brown Owl did inspection for the
Brownie Sign. Everyone repeated
the Brownie Prayer.
At Pow Wow LUanne MacLeod
showed the Pack and Mrs. Webster
her dolt house that she had made as
part of her Toymaker Badge. Judy
Hunter told about the plant she is
growing for one of her tests.
Brown Owl checked several of the
Brownies' record books.
During work period Brown Owl
and Packie had the Golden Hand
and Golden Ladder BroWnieS for a
compass game "Round and Round
the Country". Mrs.. Webster
tested Shirley Loree for her

Miss Ruth Thompson, public
health nurse in LUcknow, accomp-
anied by her sister Miss Margaret
Thompson of Toronto returned on
Monday of last week from a two
week conducted tour to East Africa.
The tour was arranged through• the'
nurse's, association.

Leslie Ritchie of Pinecrest Man-
or, Lucknow celebrated his 85th
birthday on Tuesday, March 4. He
spent the day with Mr. and Mrs.
Andy Gaunt of St. Helens.

A dinner meeting 'of the Blue-
water Shrine Club, scheduled for
Lucknow on Wednesday night of
last week, was cancelled because of
•the storm conditions. Ron Forster
made the arrangements for the
local meeting. It was to be the'first
time the Shriners met in Lucknow.
THAT
A chimney fire was cause for a
fire alarm on Wednesday afternoon
of last week to the home of Albert
Morningstar, north of Lucknow.
High winds prevailed at the time.
No damage was done. •
THAT
Bruce County local govern-
ment study will hold an inforMation
.meeting at the municipal office in
Lucknow on Wednesday; March
12th from 3 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9
p.m. The commissioner for the
Study will be present to discuss the
issues and problems and to hear
recommendations.

FEBRUARY 1965
A second wolf was shot east of •
Holyrood on the 8th of Kinloss by
Bill Chester and Jack Treleaven of
town. Others in the hunting party
were GeOrge and Elliott Whitby,
Jim McEwan, Blake Alton, Herm-
an Fischer and his son. •
Another wolf was bagged in the
same area two weeks previously by
Jim McEwan, Harvey and Jack
McQuillin.
The resignation of Joe Balzer,
Lucknow Police. Chief, was receive('
by Lucknow Council. He had been
chief constable since August 1st,
1963.
Kingsbridge Separate School
Board was making plans for a new
school at . Kingsbridge. They had a
present enrolment of about 50.
New areas had. been formed, which
would give all Catholic children
within the Township the opportun-
ity of attending t'he Separate School
if they wished.
Mrs. Thomas Armstrong, R. R. 2,
Lucknow, was appointed clerk of
the Township of West Wawanosh. •
She succeeded John Foran, who
had previously held the position for
eleven years.

Henry Parker of Hamilton died
suddenly on Monday, February
24th in his 69th year. The funeral
service was held in St. Thomas on
February 27th.
Mr. Parker was well known in
the Kinloss area where he had
purchaked the former ' Gordon
Hodgkinson farm home 'at Hayes
Lake.

training centre and was presently
in charge of a 'holding unit.
