Mr. and Mrs. John Austin
attended the Good Roads Oinven-
don on Monday and Tuesday of last
week at the Royal York Hotel,
Toronto.
Stephen' Howard, son 'of Mr. and
Mrs. John Howard, 'underwent
surgery for- appendectomy at the
Wingham and District 'Hospital on
Tuesday of last week.
Mrs, Joe RiSdon of Montreal is
visiting with 'her sister, .Mrs.
Ormond Heffernan and Mr. Heffer-
nan. Mr. and Mrs. John
Sheardown and Ricky of Porcupine
also visited for a few days, also Mr.
and Mrs. Albert Heffernan and"
family of NewMarket visited on
Sunday.
There were ten tables at the card
party Saturday night 'at the Parish
Hall. High lady was Mrs. John
Howard,. second high, Mrs. Mariet-
ta Martin; high gent was Charles
Crawford, second high was Brother
Carl Voll. Lunch was served by the
C.W.L.
Ontario Place; Sick Children's
Hospital and the Science Centre.
A number of ladies of Trinity
Church in Ashfield attended the
Huroh-Perth Presbyterial meeting
in Listowel United Church on
Friday of last week. A. skit was
presented which had taken place at
the church in the past, "The
Forgotten Element on Communion
Sunday", Those taking part were

Hackett; Mrs. Allan. Ritchie; Mrs.
Alex Hackett; Mrs. Blake Alton
and Mrs. Warren Zinn. Mrs.

family visited Saturday of last week
at Gateway Haven, in Wiarton with
his' father, Earl Swan.

George Grigg was released from
Wingham Hospital on Monday.
On Thursday those attending the
play at Centralia College in which
Brenda Ritchie was taking part
were her mother Mrs. ClarEnce
Ritchie, her grandmothers, Mrs.
Gordon Ritchie of Lucknow and
Mrs. Gershom Johnston of Wing-
ham and Mrs. Walter Elliott and
Karen.
Mr. and Mrs. Archie Purdon and
family were Sunday visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. ken. Dickson and
family of Belinore.
YOUNG PEOPLES SOCIETY
The Young Peoples Society met
Sunday evening in Chaltner's
Sunday School room with an
attendance of 12: Fred de Boer had
charge of the service. He read
scripture, Matthew 16 and gave the
explanation on the church. He led
in Prayer. The discussion was on
the topic, "The Church". - The
offering was received and dedicat-
ed. Lunch was served.
Mr. and Mrs. Bev Kay, Graham
and Wendy, - visited Sunday
afternoon with his , mother Mrs.
Kay, a patient at Guelph Hospital,
and with , her mother, Mrs. Graham
of Brampton. "'
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan "Laidlaw,
Janet and Kimberley, visited on
Sunday with 'Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Gordon, Heather and Scott of
Windsor.
Brian Falconer and Brad Callum
of Sarnia, spent the week end with
the former's grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. ;Robert Mowbray.

We are sorry to report that
Mrs. Kay of Guelph, who last week
spent the week end with her son
Bev Kay, Mrs. Kay and family, on
Monday had the misfortune to fall

Wanda . Hunter of Barrie, teach-
ing school at Camp Borden Base;
was home for the week, end with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Hunter. Mrs. Hunter is planning
on Tuesday of this week to enter St.
Joseph's Hospital, London.
Mrs. Harvey Ritchie attended a
relative shower at Wroxeter on
Saturday evening for Joanne Mor-
ris, the bride-to-be of Dale
MacLean, a nephew of Mrs.'
Ritchie.

family were supper guests on
Sunday with her parents, Mr, and
Mrs. Elmer Pollard of Ripley.
Mr,. and Mrs, Eldon Ritchie
attended Open House on Thursday
of last week at Centralia, where
their son, Jim is a student.
Sympathy is extended to Mr. and
Mrs. John Hunter and family in the
'passing of John's mother, Mrs.
Jake Hunter, on Friday of last
week. Mr. and MrS. Jake Hunter
had previously farmed at Zion for
many years.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Gibson
attended the Good Roads Conven-
tion at the Royal York in Toronto on
Sunday to Tuesday of last week.
Mrs. Gibson's parents,. Mr. and
Mrs. Al Irwin, stayed with the,
children. '
Sharon Cook and her Sunday
School, class in Lucknow, with
Ernest Ackert as teacher, visited in
Toronto on Saturday of last week at
and break her hip. She is now in
Guelph Hospital where she under-
went , surgery. The community
wishes her a speedy recovery.

of Scarborough were week end
visitors with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Rintoul.
