Ladies 6:30 p.m.
It ' was a real busy day at the
Lucknow arena on Saturday, March
1st, as. the 5th annual Plei Hockey
'tournament took place. As in every
"tournament there was • plenty of
idiot' and ,some excellent hockey,
with eight teams competing for the
Championship and Consolation
Trophies.
Brussels Fleas are to be con-
gratulated as the winners of the
Championship Ttophy - Champs
for the fourth consecutive year in a
row at the Lucknow Flea tourna-
ment. The Teeswater Fleas were
the recipients of the Consolation
Trophy this year. Ronald Alton,
the originator of the Flea Hockey
Tournament, presented the troph-
ies to, the winning teams. The
following is the Schedule and
scores of the games conimencing at
9.00 a.m. through to 8.00 p.m. that
evening. •
1st GAME
Our local boys started off the
chedtile against Belmore, the
score being Lticknow 3- Belmore 3
with Lucknow winning on shots on'
goal, entitling the local team to
enter into the championship series.
Lucknow goal scorers were Donnie
Peterson and Paul Johnstone (2)
with Peterson and. Jamie Bere
scoring on shots on goal tOyin the
game.
2nd GAME
Belgrave won this game against
Tiverton 4-1 entitling Belgrave 'to
enter into the Championship series
and 'thus putting Tiverton in the
Consolation.
3rd GAME
Blyth won against Ripley 5-0.
4th GAME
Brussels defeated Teeswater
10-3, putting Brussels into the
Championship series and Teeswat-.
er in Consolation.
5th GAME
Consolation playdowns, Belmore
2, Tiveiton 1.''
6th GAME
First in the Championship
series.
Lucknow Fleas met Belgrave
Fleas in this the first of the
Championship series, the only
team to trim them this season.
This was a very close game and the
tension great; but the Belgrave
team proved to' be the stronger as
they defeated the 'local boys 2-1.
7th GAME
The first of the Consolation
series.
Teeswater met and defeated
Ripley in this game with a score of
4-1 in favour of Teeswater.
8th GAME
Brussels defeated Blyth 5-0,
keeping them in line for 'the final
game against Belgrive in the
Championship Final.
9th GAME
The Consolation Final.
Teeswater Fleas defeated the
Belmore team, making them the
Consolation Champs of the day..
The score of this game was 4-0.
10th GAME
The Championship Final.
• The game each team played so
hard for finally arrived at 7.00 p.m.
thateVening with the two top teams
of the day taking part. Brussels
outplayed Belgrave to win the
series and 'the Championship 7-1.
This ended an' excellent well--
organized Flea ,Tournament:
Winners of the two Olympic
Lottery Tickets given as prizes in a
draw in support of Flea Hockey
were Gordon Van Horne, George-
town and Ron Bechard, R. R. '1
Kincardine. Your support of the
Flea Tournament was deeply
appreciated by both the Fleas and
their coaches and managers.
Blyth is, hosting their Flea
Tournament on Saturday, 'March
8th. Lucknow Fleas are entered in
this Tournament and play their first
game at 9.30 a.m. against Bel-
grave.
Teeswater host their annual Flea
Tournament on March 17th and the
Lucknow Fleas are alsO 'scheduled
to take part in this.

Two teams from Lucknow have
won the VV.O.A.A: 'D" champion-
ship and have advanced in the
Ontario Mimi'. Hockey Association
quarter finals. Both will this meek
'start best-oUseven series.'
The Juveniles will play Caledon.
The first game ,iS this Friday' in
Lucknow at 8.30 p.m. with the
return game scheduled for Caledoii
on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Pee Wees will play Cayuga.
Lucknow will host the first game on
Saturday afternoon at 4.30 p.m.
with the return game in Cayuga on
Sunday afternoon.
Ripley To Play
Grand Valley
The Ripley Juvenile hockey team
started into the WOAA- Grand
Championship playdowns on Sun-
day by outscoring the Hanover
squad 6-2, Danny Walden scored 2
goals, David MacDonald 'scored 3,
while Mike Gallant scored once.
This week .is a busy one for the
boys, they go to HanoVer Tuesday
night for their second game, and
then to Grand Valley on Wednes-
day for the first game in the OMHA
playdowns.
They will be at home on Sunday,
March 9 at 2 p.m. to play the
second' game with Grand Valley.
