to moving to Ripley Mr. and
Mrs. Regier lived in the Dan Rose
home west of Smoky Hollow - the
former Donnelly farm.
Persons with knowledge about
the early years of Lurgan are being
sought. Just in case you do not
know Lurgan's geographical loca-
tion - it is west from Reid's COrners
- down the hill at the lake on the
fourth concession of Huron Town-
ship. Art Smeltzer, R. R. 1 Ripley,
is looking for information about the
records of the Lurgan Methodist
Church. Art tells me that it was
located at the top of the hill on the
farm of Mr. and Mrs. Perrin Lowry
the Les Rae place, and that when
it was vacant, St. Luke's Anglican
church down in Lurgan bought the
building. So it you know, talk to
Art about .it.
Sometime through last. Saturday
night to Sunday morning two cars
parked on, Ripley's main street
were, damaged by acts of vandal-
ism. The discovery was' made early
Sunday morning when Mrs. Kelvin
Henderson went to drive her car to
Kincardine Hospital where she
nurses. Evelyn found a metal store
bread holder rack jammed into the
top of the motor of her car. On
removing it she found further
damage and also that her car would
not start. Luckily Mrs. Chris (Jack)
MacDonald, who is also a nurse at
Kincardine, gave Mrs., Henderson
a ride to work.. Mrs. Henderson
reported 'the matter and the
Kincardine Provincial Police de-
partment investigated.— --Kelvin
Henderson's car was also , damag-
ed. It was also discovered that
people responsible had been at
Frank's garage and at the Ripley-
Huron Legion hall washrooms. It is
quite unfortunate that Mr. and
Mrs. Henderson were subject to
this incident because on Tuesday of
this week Kelvin entered the new
University Hospital in north Lon-
don to undergo tests and possibly
in the next 'few days surgery for his
hip condition. At this time the
people of Ripley and area wish
Kelvin and Evelyn Henderson
better times' and that somehow
restitution will be made.

Word waS received this past
Sunday by Mrs. Mildred (Clarence)
Wylds of the passing of Barry
MacKenzie in hospital in Toronto
early Sunday morning. 'Sympathy
of Ripley and Huron folks is
extended to his wife - the former
Margaret MacLeod daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
MacLeod of concession 10 Huron.
Mr. and Mrs.. MacKenzie lived in
Ajax. For some time,-Barry, native
of Kincardine, was a patient in the
Ajax-Scarborough hospital.
with her son. Ripley had eleven
people attending the sessions.
Some of the other folks from. the
Ripley Huron area representing
Kincardine were Mr. and Mrs.
Cecil Hollands of Pine River and
Burton Hodgins. Fprmer Ripleyite
Mrs. Evan Smyth of Formosa and .
Mrs. Mary Fischer of Milatnay and
Mrs. Eldred Reid of Tiverton -
sister of Mrs. Amelia MacLeod of
Ripley were among those on the
bus.
Recently Frank Zipfel, in reno-
vating and insulating the interibr of
his Ripley garage, found in its
upstairs four antique books and a
card dating back to the First, World
This card is a post card with the
usual square in the upper right
hand corner, a picture of a maple
leaf with Canada printed on it and
'below in Capital letters CAA.
and then the place for the address..
On the message side of the card
across the top, is printed the
following - "Wishing you a Merry
Christmas and a happy New Year -
from a Canadian Soldier in the
Field".
One of the books was a dictionary
published in 1872 and hence it is
over 100 years old. Also in the
front 'of it is the name "Elijah
Jewitt, Lucknow, 1874."
