At Hospital George Whitby, Wingham, was involved in a truck-car collision on highway No. 4, at the Dep't of Highway Yards on February 8. He was admitted for treatment of facial and left eye abrasions, also chin and hand abrasions. Dwight Adams, Wingham, was a passenger in his father's tow-truck which was the second vehicle involved in the truck-car collision. He was treated for a fractured left ankle and lacerations and later admitted to hospital. Sidney Adams, Wingham, was driver of the tow truck involved in the truck-car collision. He was treated for lacerations and multiple fractures of his ribs.. Patient was admitted Jto hospital and then later transferred to Victoria Hospital, London. Investigated by D. H. Jamieson. Michael Blake, R. R. 2 Brussels, was riding a snowmobile February 9 and caught his foot ad a tree, pinning his foot between tree and snowmobile, at his home. He was treated for fractured left tibia and released. Investigated by K. R. Balzer. Mrs, Ann Plasschaert, R. R. 3 Listowel, was a passenger in a car which was involved in collision with another car on Huron County Rd. No. 22 February 3. Patient was treated for chest injury and releas- Goderich Man, Died. At Age 86: ALPHONSFS,,BOYLE Alphonsus H. Boyle' of Goderich, passed away on, February 1,6th • at Alexandra - Marine and General Hospital following a- shot-4 illness. He was 86. He *as born in West Wawanosh, Township,on September 2,' 1888, 'a son of Henry and Julia (Brophy) Boyle. Mr. Boyle 'farmed in West Wawanosh Township until moving to' Colborne Township in, 1948 and in 1966 retired to Goderich. • He is survived by his wife, the former Ethel Agnes Leddy, whom he married in 1919 in St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church; also one daughter Mrs. Raymond (Mary Agnes) Fuller of Goderich, one son Raymond J. of St.. Augustine and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters and four brothers. Mass was held -at . 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19 at St.„ Peter's Church, Goderich with Msgr. L. Phelan 'offciating. Interment was in St. Augustine - Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Boyle, Norman Boyle, Ed Leddy, Ken Leddy, Morgan King, Bert Moss. McCallum Funeral Home,. God- erich was in -charge of funeral arrangements. Friends from a distance attend- ing the service were from London, Cargill, Kitchener and'Orangeville. 1/2 mile boys 16 years and under, Harvey 'VVebster; 1/2 mile 12 and under, Archie, McMillan, Kenneth . It 1 ' Lucknow, was a passenger in the . second vehicle involved in accid- ent. He was released following treatment of injured right arm.. Investigated by R. H. Cameron, Wingham O.P.P. Larry Coughtrey, . R. R. 2 Kip- pen, was a passenger in a car driven by Wayne Ward, which apparently skidded on ice and hit a bridge on the 3rd concession of ' Morris Twp., east of Brussels on February 6. 'He was treated for scalp lacerations and wrist injury and released. • Miss Judy Sellers, R. R. 2 Bluevale, Ontario, was also a passenger in the vehicle driven by Wayne Ward. She was treated for wrist injury and released. Invest- igated by H. B. McKittrick. Mastet- Scott Streich, Wing- ham, ran out and was struck by a car driven by Mrs. Mary Caslick, on Patrick Street, Wingham. He was examined and released. Investigated by Chief R. Whittig. Gary Alton, R. R. 7 Lucknow, was driving a snowmobile when the ski apparently locked in some ice, throwing him off his machine. The accident happened on lot 14, con- cession 7, West Wawanosh. was treated for an injured left shoulder and released. Investig- ated by Wingharn O.P.P. Douglas Nesbitt, Wingham, came in collision with the Houston Bridge, Wingham. He was admit- ted for observation. Investigated by Constable Foxton. 10 YEARS AGO FEBRUARY, 1965" Silverwood Dairies Ltd. closed their downtown branch; with all business conducted from their main plant. The downtown build ing was being offered for sale. In spite of winter' weather and heavy snowfall, workmen com- menced, the cement block work on the new Crest Hardware store on main street to replace the store, operated. by Charles Webster and Donald MacKinnon, which was completely destroyed in a fire ,a couple of months previously. The new store was built on the former site of the burned out hardware but was enlarged to take in the property of Joe MacMillan. The Lucknow Bank of Montreal announced the 'purchase of the property immediately west of the Crest Store with future plans for a new bank building. The new Canadian flag made its appearance on the village's Federal building, the 'post office. 30 YEARS AGO FEBRUARY 1945' Watson following the death of her husband, by whom Wes had beep previously employed for, some seven years. • The Ladies' Auxiliary to • the Canadian Legion was sponsoring an eight-week bridge and euchre marathon. The 17th Blood Donor Clinic was held in LucknoW. It was a record breaking clinic with 170 in attend- ance, the majority, of whom were from the rural communities, in spite of the fact only main roads were open for rnotor,travel. Gold pins were presented to Gordon Fisher, Harvey Houston, Arthur Cann and Jim Cainpbell, whO each made their tenth donation. 50 YEARS AGO FEBRUARY 1945 The Lucknow Fire Company sponsored a Carnival in the local' 'arena. Prize winners were - fancy dressed lady, Mrs. A. E. McKim, Tena Blitzstein; fancy dressed girl, Jessie MacKenzie; cop is dressed lady, Vera Sherriff; comic dressed girl, Helen MacDonald, Mary Wilson; fancy dressed gent, Jack Johnston. Malcolm Armstrong; fancy dressed boy, Malcolm VVato son; comic dressed gent, Eldon Johnston; comic dressed boy, Charlie Palmer; National Costume, Arabell Cameron; one mile race, Cameron MacDonald, Fred Gun- nell ; farmer' s_race „Stanley Todd;
