John is employed at, the Pickering Nuclear Plant. * * * * * * Last Wednesday evening and Thursday morning featured some real wintry weather over a wide area of Western Ontario. CKNX radio listed all the school bus cancellations from Stratford north. With zero visibility often prevailing due to snow drifted with strong north west winds, snow plows and police cars were off the roads. However, once the storm settled the Ripley Huron area was a busy spot,, Despite Wednesday;even- ing's poor road conditions the Drayton Juveniles made it to Ripley where Ripley. Won the game 6 to 0. On Thursday, as mentioned above, the Ripley Firemen were out to the barialre at Archie Stewart's farm. On Friday afternoon the• Ripley Senior Citizens - the Happy Hearts, seventy :strong, entertained forty Senior Citizens from Teeswater at their meeting in the auditorium of the Ripley Huron Central School at the west end of the village. Reg Moorewas in charge of the recreation. On Friday evening the students had their annual Valen- 'tine dance in the auditoriiim at the Ripley District High School. Then on Saturday it an early hustle and bustle at the Ripley Curling arena as the Ripley Huron Legion held their annual Reunion bon- spiel. The Ripley Huron Legion hall was also a busy spot last week end. On Friday evening ,relatives relatives and neighbours held "open house" at the Legion hall for Gordon and Vera Scott on the occasion of their. 50th 'or Golden Wedding .anniver- sary. On Saturday evening the ladies of the Legion Auxiliary served dinner to the ,cifrlers in Saturday's Legion bonspiel. * * * * * * In the late CKNX television news on Tuesday evening,. Febru- ary 11, pictures were shown on the Construction work at the new Recreation Centres in Kincardine and Ripley. Alio on the same newscast several pictures were shown of the fashion show held on Osborne and family. To them and to her three daughters Lilian of Hanover; Wilda' of Lucknow and Donna of Teeswater area, the sympathy of Ripley 'and Huron friends is expressed at this time. * * * * * * On Monday eyening of last week the Ripley Agricultural Society held their February meetink,in the Ripley District High School with their newly elected president MOr- 'ley Scott of Purple Grove in. charge. Looking after arrangements for the annual spring dance on Friday evening, April 18 are Hugh Mason, Donald A. MacDonald, Reg Moore, John Gamble, along with Morley. Mrs. Marion McCharles brought in -the- poster- display --which- -she-and Oliver, along with Mrs. Gladys Arnold, had 'made for the Ontario Convention. By the way, it was an early rise for all delegates this morning to, get away ,to. Toronto. The' convention takes place to-day and to-morrow, February 19 and 20 in the Royal York Hotel. Present at the February meeting were Mr. and Mrs. Russ Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver McCharles, Reg Moolse, Dunc D. MacLeod, Cecil Sutton, Jack Farrell, Bob Rutledge, Hugh Mason and Ab Wylds. • The ladies of the Ripley Auxil- iary, who prepared and served the dinner at Legion Hall last Saturday evening to the curlers, included president Mrs.. Paisley' and Glasgow in Scotland - the Robert Burns, district. The funeral service was held, last Saturday afternoon at the McLen- nan-McCreath Funeral Home for Mrs. Elmer Osborne who' passed away in the Kincardine General Hospital. Active until just a short time ago, Mrs. Osborne lived on the family homestead on conces- sion 4 east in Huron Township with her son Bob - Mr. and Mrs. Robert
